Biography
Kamara´s roots heading all the way back to year of 2000, when Juha Minkkinen (guitar, vocals) and Tuomas Janhunen (guitar) founded a band called Lumessakahlaajat. There where whole bunch of starting musicians involved, but eventually Kamara´s line-up came clear after couple of years. Bassist Henri Lehmonen, guitarist Jaakko Minkkinen and drummer Jaakko Silvast joined the band, and these five guys is also Kamara in 2007.
Time, when band was called Lumessakahlaajat, they played only coversongs from bands like Timo Rautiainen & Trio Niskalaukaus and Kotiteollisuus. After few gigs band decided to start to make music of their own. First demo, named Lumessakahlaajat, introduced 3 of bands own songs. The year was 2002. In next year band headed to Studio Watercastle to make their second demo. Band recorded 5 new songs and shortly after that Firebox Records showed their interest about the band. Lumessakahlaajat changed their name to Kamara and whole new page was turn. Their 5-piece demo was released as a minialbum called "Tämäkin vielä". The year was 2004.
Summer 2004 Kamara played bunch of gigs, including sets in Nummirock- and Jörisrock -festivals. After the summer, Kamara started to write songs to their debutalbum, "Synti, Tuomio, Katumus", which was released in august 2005 thru Roihu Records. Kamara did an autumntour in Finland playing gigs in cities like Jyväskylä, Helsinki, Lahti, Kouvola, Kuopio, Joensuu and Seinäjoki. During last years Kamara has done just a couple of gigs because band is focusing to do new material for their second album. Kamara also looking for a new recordlabel for their thrash and old school heavy metal -influenced style of music. We´ll wait and see, what will happen in the future!
