Biography

Everything started in August 2001. After singing and writing pop music in Finnish, travelling around playing drums for different artists and bands - Olli felt that it was time to get back to square one and start making rock 'n roll again…. It was time to start concentrating more on his own singing and writing. He wrote and recorded some tunes and sent them out to different labels. The feedback was positive and very encouraging... That was the first sign that things were moving in the right direction…!

2002. The band played a few shows under the name of Sweet Nothing, but somehow the line up didn't feel complete. Olli kept writing songs and kept sending them out to labels… Ironically there was still good feedback on new material, but nothing that would take the band further. Also the new band name was given. A good friend and a rock star from the US (Eric Hurt / Pilots Lounge), suggested the band should be named after the geographical location of Helsinki. So the name was found! - L-60 - (Latitude 60 degrees); the map grid point/reference of their hometown Helsinki.

2003. With both a new drummer and bass player the band toured around Finland, playing small clubs to small crowds... however the word was getting around... But of course right when things were looking bright, Olli called it quits. The band was already booked to play some major festivals in Finland, but " the band” was still not a unit and didn't have a clear vision of what L-60 is about. After few quiet months, a new drummer and bass player were found. By the fall, Endless- Sweden signed the band and before no time, the band was already in Sweden recording its first full length CD. The self-titled album came out in November in Finland and few months later in Sweden.

2004. L-60* played at a few festivals in Sweden and Germany, and caught the eye of German label, J-star records. The contract with Endless- Sweden had ‘ended’ and the band moved on with J-star. L-60* continued to travel to play at festivals and promote themselves…. things started to look good again. The first album was then released in Central Europe.

2005. January the band flew to Germany to record 2 new songs and played few shows. However, after the trip it seemed the band-spirit had vanished! Miika, the long time guitar hero (and Olli's right hand) decided to leave the band. The band did manage a small Estonian tour with a sub-guitarist. But by the end of the year the original gang surrounding Olli had gone their separate ways. All new starts seem exciting, but at the same time this was extremely frustrating..

2006 Now with a completely new band line up, new label (WFL-music) as well as the new record, another day has begun. Now Tommi plays bass; a tall guy with a great stage presence and fast fingers. Ville, the youngster on the guitar; a man with a great talent and cool looks! And Markus, the "pigskin hitterman", on drums; a man with solid groove and spinnin' sticks. The sound has changed quite a bit, if anything it’s a heavier sensation, giving the music more "meat around the bones". But the lyrics remain need and honest!

2007 L-60* will be playing at Köln ( Germany) for 40 000 people as well as doing mini-tour in UK. The band will headline the Notthingham Live music- fest! Also the co-work with the new USA company Irish rose music has started. The label will release " Feel Nothing" in USA in August, and the band will do a full tour in August/ September.
Also the material for the new album has been practised and the band is plannin' to go to studio later this year.
“…It's music that moves your body and heals your soul..”
The journey and story continues.....
