Biography
Long talks about forming a band finally came intuition, as Martti Pohjosaho, Jari Kinnunen, Harri Pölkki and Pekka Parantainen joined forces in late 2004. Playing some covers and leftovers from earlier band's, things moved on in quite slow paste. The band was trying to form a clear vision of the bands music. And little by little, that vision started to be clear. Add death and doom(ish) metal together with melodic and atmospheric elements.
In 2006 Lucidity recorded their first official promo, Endure. Songwriter Martti Pohjosaho wanted to add more content to the music, by writing a story inside the promo. I guess you can call it a theme promo. That release was, and still is, the foundation of the bands music. Finally, all the pieces were falling together, and the vision of the bands music was becoming clearer. That promo got good reviews from different medias in Finland, and that gave a huge boost of confidence for the band to evolve the music even more.
In 2007 Lucidity's second promo was released. Promo was titled Awaken, and that promo was the first where Lucidity had keyboards in their music. Continuing the story of Endure, Awaken was a big step closer to the music that the band plays today. Awaken got really good reviews from media, and got first radio play's by two different nationwide radio stations.
In 2009 Lucidity's third release, Relic was released. In Relic, Lucidity took few steps back to more melodic and atmospheric aspect's of their minds. Still without forgetting the band's foundation in death/doom metal. Also keyboards took little bigger part in the music. The outcome was the best so far. Relic got really good reviews allover Finnish media, and even “Album of the month” title was received.
After Relic, things started to slow down. Suddenly it became really hard to get all the members of Lucidity to rehearsals. After awhile it was clear that things were not heading to right direction. If there's no time to rehearse, how on earth can we play any live shows or anything? All the members of Lucidity decided that it was time to do something about this slow paste period. The result was that the longtime bass player, Harri Pölkki, left the band. He had difficulties of finding any inspiration for the band. So as a mutual decision, he was no longer part of Lucidity.
After that decision, the remaining members of Lucidity trained as a trio. After few rehearsals, it was clear that the band will not quit. New brilliant songs where waiting to be recorded, so why stop here. It didn't take much time for the band to fill the place of bass player. Sami Ahmaoja joined the band. He brought the missing energy back into the band.
With new member and with new material, Lucidity is more than ready to hit the studio and after that, hit the stages. So, again, we are now in a dawn of a new era....
