2008: The story of this pack began as it has begun with countless of other bands before: three mates (O-P, Sammy and Jyrä - neighbours back then) were spending some spare time together on a warm summer evening and having a conversation about music and bands they have played in before. Since each of them happened to play a different instrument than the other, they shared music taste similar enough and no one had any active bands at the moment (and since they had enjoyed some beverages), the result of this cocktail was quite predictable: they decided to form a band.

At first their idea about their new band was to play some cover songs varying from rock to metal and see if it would lead anywhere further. However, the idea about the covers evaporated quickly after their first rehearsals as each member had some almost ready compositions of their own in their sleeves that sounded promising enough to convince them to carry on working on them instead. The character of those song ideas was a strange kind of mixture of slightly different tastes of the members: some kind of moody, mid-tempo, melodic and folkish/doomish/whateverish metal in vein of 90’s greats (reminiscent of Primordial with a tinge of Amorphis, Amok-era Sentenced and perhaps some influences from the more melodic wing of “2nd wave of Norwegian BM” – i.e. Ulver, In the Woods etc.) - and in the other end they had quite straightforward and rock-influenced material to bang their heads to. They hadn’t planned their style beforehand since the main idea was to play whatever came naturally out of their five-thumbed hands, but how right the outcome felt for them took them by a slight surprise. After a few sweaty hours of training they knew they would definitely push further the thing they had started and enjoy the ride.

As it became clear that they would continue playing this kind of metal they also discovered the limitations of being just a trio: the more song ideas they had, the more they felt that they needed a second guitarist in order to be able to carry out the songs live as they heard them in their heads. Luckily for them, they didn't have to search far as they already knew one candidate they could ask to join their group: Pasi, drummer from Sammy's other band called Strikin' Case. They could ask a drummer, because Sammy (their drummer atm) was originally more a guitarist than a drummer and was ready to switch the sticks to the six strings. Pasi agreed, and soon they were glad to find out their band was one unit stronger, in every sense of the word.

2009:"Old" songs developed further, new ones were made and skills evolved slowly through training, but one thing was still missing: vocals. They hadn't really paid full attention on that matter, but eventually it became impossible to push the subject aside anymore. They had a vague idea about the vocal styles they wanted, but none about where to find the one that could execute them. The gods had to smile on them since they got lucky again: Ville was found singing Metallica on a ferry to Sweden and later at their rehearsals trying to cut into their music through his throat. It was a perfect match.

As being a complete band they also named it as "Nodding Sky" and were ready to move on to record their first demo and practice for their first live perfomance, which took place on 5th December. The gig was a success, especially for a debut, and left them in hunger for more.

2010:Still recording the demo, writing new songs and doing as much gigs as they possibly can. At this phase things in the Nodding Sky camp have developed to the point of being as serious as it's still safe about their music and they share the mutual will to go forward as musicians and as a band.
