Northworld

Biography

NORTHWORLD was formed by Matti Niemi, Roni Seppänen and Konsta Kaikkonen in the fall of 2001. The group's name wasn't NORTHWORLD at that time and the music style wasn't equivalent to the current. Within the last three years the music style of NORTHWORLD has changed radically.

The band started with grunge influenced hard rock but plays tight ass-kicking heavy metal nowadays. The line-up started to take shape in late 2002 when Marko Karjalainen joined the band as a bass player.

Early in 2003 Henry Moisala filled the drummer's spot and NORTHWORLD as you know it was born. The group's first demo was recorded in late September 2003. Matti and Marko left the band year 2004 and a new demo entitled Covenant of steel was made summer -04 with session players on synth and bass. Soon after that synth player Jukka Virtanen and bassist Yrjö Gävert joined the band thus making it a living organism again. Henry was at the time in military service and replaced by Perttu Kurttila filling the drummer's throne. Yrjö also left the band and we are now working with a new bassist, Tino Puisto. After Henry's military service, NorthWorld have decided to keep the session drummer, Kim Etelävuori, as a permanent member of the band. We also entered the Dauntless Studio on 27.1. to record a new, 3 song demo.

This time the material is a bit different, with more progressive and thrashy elements, without forgetting the melodic roots of the band. Be sure to check it out!!
