APOCALYPTICA: 'Worlds Collide' First-Week U.S. Sales Revealed

"Worlds Collide", the new album from the Finnish cello quartet APOCALYPTICA, sold 11,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 59 on The Billboard 200 chart. The impressive opening tally was driven in large part by the success of the CD's first single, "I'm Not Jesus", a Top 10 hit at rock radio which features a guest appearance by Corey Taylor (SLIPKNOT, STONE SOUR). The song's accompanying video, which was filmed in in Los Angeles with director Tony Petrossian (AVENGED SEVENFOLD, RISE AGAINST, SLIPKNOT), can be viewed below. Other guest musicians on the CD include Dave Lombardo (SLAYER), Tomoyasu Hotei (superstar Japanese composer, whose credits include the "Kill Bill" soundtrack), Joseph Duplantier (GOJIRA) and Cristina Scabbia (LACUNA COIL). Backing vocals for the effort were laid down by Swedish singer Mats Levén (YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, THERION, KRUX, TREAT, AT VANCE).

According to The Pulse of Radio, APOCALYPTICA has enlisted FUEL frontman Toryn Green to handle lead vocals on the remainder of the quartet's current North American tour, which began on April 11 and continues through mid-May. The group initially enlisted vocalist Johnny Andrews, who co-wrote the band's current single, "I'm Not Jesus", to sing on the trek, but Andrews has been replaced after just a handful of shows. In addition to "I'm Not Jesus", Andrews also co-wrote another track called "S.O.S. (Anything But Love)".
