Finland Joins 'Rock Against Child Pornography And Abuse'

Now Finland has its own team to gather those passionate about rock and metal to fight against child pornography and abuse. Several students decided that it's time they did something about this shameful reality and raise the awareness by organizing rock concerts under their banner. "Together with the bands and their music we want to bring this silent topic into public awareness and send the message out loud and clear that any form of child pornography or child abuse is not acceptable".

How did it begin?

"The original idea came from Germany, where a group of students had enough of reading about this topic every day in newspapers and grew frustrated at not being able to do anything. So they founded "Rock gegen Kinderporno" in 2006 and so far have held three very successful concert to raise awareness. There are now Teams in The UK, Ireland, Belgium, The Netherlands, Italy, Canada and Greece, and concerts have been held all over Europe with the message that we will no longer sit quietly while our children are being abused in this terrible way."

With their very first event, they managed to draw attention to this matter and plan to keep on doing so. The event, held in Nosturi on 19.01, featured young, but known Finnish rock bands, such as PRIVATE LINE, DAY ELEVEN, FLINCH and THE WINYLS. Also metal acts will be involved in future and the required support is to spread the word and to come to the concerts! Bands interested in supporting the cause may contact the organizers anytime.

  2. This is pretty old news =) Over a year later than the actual happening, yet it's a good thing to report about this. Especially cause new big concerts will follow!
