APOCALYPTICA: Official statement about the illegal use our song 'Path'

APOCALYPTICA has issued the following update:

"This is on an official statement by the band about the illegal use of our song 'Path' in a tv and internet commercial in the Czech Republic.

Apocalyptica always supports minorities, stands up for human rights, respects every human being, no matter their colour, ethnic background or religion, worldwide.

Apocalyptica also supports the idea of a united Europe and the European Union.

We hope it is a clear statement that we would never allow the Czech Republican party 'Národní Strana' to use any of our music.  The fact is, we were never asked if they could use our material.

Beside the fact that we are mortified by the illegal use, 'Národní Strana' has contravened the law with the owners of the rights for the song 'Path' in Czech Republic, who are Universal Music Publishing and Universal Music.

Both companies will start legal proceedings against the party now.

  3. I'm from the Czech Republic. I saw that commercial on the internet last week and I could not believe to my own eyes! It's absolutely disgusting, poor and blatant!!!

  5. I'm from Czech republic too, and this "political" party Národní strana is total bullshit. It can be even hardly described as a party, it's just a bunch of people (but really big bunch I would say) consisted of neonazis, skinheads, rasists and other violent loosers and outsiders you can imagine. However, it includes also some quite normal people which are desperate of gypsy community an gypsies are really a big problem in our country and everybody hates them, and this "party" offers repression against them. Unfortunately you can vote for this party, because democracy allow it. But I think they will be publicly banned soon, it's just a matter of time.

    I dunno who or what 'Národní Strana' are, but if anybody meets one of them kick them in the head for me >:D

  7. I'm not from the Czech Republic, but I do know every country has it's problems with Gypsies and every plan for rehabiliation doesn't seem to work, including my country the Netherlands. The Attorney general has said too that Gypsies are largely in criminality, which is only a confirmation of a visual assumption. In my view there is a "Gypsy question" of what to do with the Gypsies and Narodni Strana is only one of the parties that openly talks about it and wants an answer to it. In terms of symbiosis the Gypsies are parasites. They have to assimilate completely, maybe even under obligation.

    It is dumb they used a song, which has a copyright attached to it. I can image that it is some negative publicity for you. But not for me, I never knew the song nor the band, now i know them and I like that song. And I don't have negative feelings about Apocalyptica because of that commercial. But maybe a bit of negative feelings, because you support minorities (not the majorities cause?) and Europe. I think I enjoy Ultima Thule more then ^^

Robbie: Here in Czech, there were some parties, even 10 years ago, which were capable of making some positive changes with the gypsy community in our country, but these are always too radical for the ordinary citizens, these parties never made it to be big enough to make some changes in the law, etc. I like everybody who can openly talk about "gypsy question" and is not afraid of being accused of RACISM, because that is the only weapon gypsies have - to blame you for racism.
    I think I did not understand your comments about supporting minorities or what...??

  10. I haven´t words for it! Our politics (yes, I am from Czech republic unfortunately) are... are... are... Ehm. Doesn´t exist the word, which can truthful character of our politics :(. Really, there is very bad rule, no only "Národní strana", but it´s one from the worst. As Tal said: I´m sorry from all Czechs. And please, believe, that no all Czechs are the same! :(

  11. I think Národní Strana should be more professional to use any copyright contents. Coz if they're not, it will results on legal proceeding. And everybody knows it.
