04. Ciàran's Well
05. Minor Heaven
06. Lost Northern Star
07. I Walk Alone
08. Nemo
09. Poison (ALICE COOPER cover)
10. Sing For Me
11. Over The Hills And Far Away
12. Die Alive

Tarja Turunen's band for her Summer Storm 2009 Tour consists of the following musicians:

According to a posting on Tarja's web site, "all the shows on Summer Storm 2009 Tour were declared 'camera-friendly,' which means that you are welcome to bring your photo camera and take as many pictures as you wish. This is with the exception of gigs in festivals, where you will have to ask to the organization of the festival about their camera policy for we can not exceed the regulations established by them."

Tarja Turunen has set "What Lies Beneath" as the working title of her new solo CD, tentatively due before the end of the year. She says, "With [2007's] 'My Winter Storm', I chose the name of the album in the early stages and that helped me to create the concept for the album. With the new album, I decided to do it the same way, so I searched for an inspiring title and all the songs are one way or another related to it."

  3. I saw Tarja at the House of Blues on Sunset in L.A. It was one of the best concerts I have ever been to. Tarja even made the concert very intimate by turning it into a "Storytellers" style concert, alternating songs with stories from the recording of "My Winter Storm." It was a truly fantastic concert.

Oh, and let me ask this: For all the whining that guys like Legeon and TheSeer make about NW, why don't they comment on Tarja news? Not controversial or whiny enough?

Jeremy wrote on 02.07.2009 at 03:56

  4. Jeremy, it seems the Tarja news are less contoversial, without an intent in them to create a scandal, arise media attention or just bite the past again as deep as can be. :)
I like Minor Heaven too. It is such a beautiful emotional song and Tarja sings it lovely!
My friend from Italy was at this fest, he said she was amazing, gave wonderful performance and spoke Italian to them!

  5. If you see, this page only takes interviews made to NW and as we know every one of them has the same lame questions... how do you feel about beign tarjas substitude?, why did you leave the stage in brazil?. how is the tour going?, how is the new singer compared to Tarja professionaly and mentaly?, why your new singer has a "life-coach"?, deja-vu?... come on... we all know that since 2004.. we know that...with tarja on the other hand is different, everyone is focused on her new carreer the new songs, the NW covers, shes great..
Why metal from finldand keeps on posting interviews with the same questions? just to give something to talk for new NW haters or all time Tarja fans? As long as NW keeps on making their music and the letters rise you to the sky Im with them... I miss tarja and I love her music too, I went to her concert when she came to Venezuela and it was great... Just let itgo people, support them.

Why Metal From Finland only posts Nightwish interviews with same questions? That question itself is a very good one! Maybe those questions are asked over and over again in different interviews? In any case, don't shoot the messenger, we are here only to provide news and information about Finnish Rock and Metalmusic.

Me personally would love to post an interview of Nightwish someday that wouldn't even have Tarja somehow related in it but the subject seems to be still kinda fresh in a weird way. To media and also to fans. But make no mistake, when such interview comes, it will be posted!

  7. to Jeremy:

Well, Jeremy, as far as Tarja does not forget her lyrics, does not forget how to play her songs, do not run off stage crying, do not run a webpage to tell people what kind of shoes she likes or how she is cleaning her face in the morning - it is quite logical that there is no need/possibility to comment on that.

She shows no need to discuss NW like every 8 days and as far as I know she does not want people to call her "Primadonna" or "Ocean sould". She actually did not hire one more life-couch and one more assistant, but I am just guessing here, because I do not know for sure, actually.

There are other things she does not do, but NW do them and if you put some thought to it, you will see that this makes her different from Nightwish.

If you will read more carefully what The Seer, Legeon or James wrote there, you will also see that there are often doing comparisons in favour of Tarja - many people stated there (me included) that: she DID grow up. NW DID NOT.

Those guys are just not bound to admire Nightwish for everything they do - they have their own brains and they are NOT afraid to say what they think. I would not call that whining.

Actually, as was many times said - if NW starts to behave like a normal band - or like Tarja does, there will be no more such comments to them.

Nightwish does not behave strange BECAUSE of comments from Legeon or The Seer. These guys are putting their comments BECAUSE Nightwish behaves strange. And last thing I would like to stress your attention to, is that that these guys reason (explain their positions) and really try to be fair and see things from different points of view.

What is much more matured from them as the messages from fans saying: "Shut -up!" or "F*ck of!" etc.

And as for Dante: you really think Tarja does not receive stupid questions? She certainly does. But she does not answer them, what again makes her different from Nigtwish.

And what do you mean by Nightwish haters? Who could possibly hate the source of so much fun?

  8. to MFF staff:

A good one, guys, really. We also would LOVE to see some normal interview as you certainly know already.

But I think that majority of people coming here just know that fault is not yours.

    The fault is clearly Nightwish´s.

Call us "haters" or not, it is not me, or MFF staff, or TheSeer or Legeon who creates this weird situation.
There is no sense in pretending that Nightwish is not responssible for it, but well, you can try.

mermaid wrote on 02.07.2009 at 14:25

  9. @MFF Staff

I know thats your work but people reactions hasnt change... I like this page cause the finnish metal is the best and youre doing a good job, but sometimes the old story turns against you, and I think the best is to move on..Tarja did and the band needs to move forward too, and its hard cause everywhere they go people ask the same questions... 5 long yeras...I think we decerve that too..I dont want to argue.. I understand but someone has to start helping them.
They has made mistakes, but please..every band has issues, even alltimes bands like ACDC, Guns, Metallica, Iron Maiden... why nightwish should be different?, they are humans.. and they are trying...

Dante wrote on 02.07.2009 at 14:30

  10. "They has made mistakes, but please..every band has issues, even alltimes bands like ACDC, Guns, Metallica, Iron Maiden... why nightwish should be different?, they are humans.. and they are trying..."

Em, really? Cause so far it doesn't seem they are trying, they are sadly only marking time, repeating themselves over and over again. Tarja on the other hand is indeed trying to grow up as a person or as an artist. I don't say she is perfect or ideal or she will grow into anything, but she clearly makes efforts, learning to be mature, etc.

And you can't blame MFF staff or other people to notice those minuses in NW. It is not their fault they exist. It's NW fault.

Trust me, I do understand you very well. However it is not as simple as that. What we do here in Metal From Finland is to provide information. There are editors that write interviews too but most of them are from another websites. I am 100% certain that if any of my editors would interview Nightwish, it wouldn't be just about Tarja or Anette's collapse in Brazil. Those are old news.

As for Nightwish answering the same questions over and over again...well they could simply say this topic is old and the band doesn't talk about it anymore. That would force interviewers to come up other questions. Just an idea...but I am without sides here really. I just run this website.

  12. Dante, in last "collapse" article Legeon on 29.6. at 20.03 explained why NG is NOT to be compared to Iron Maiden. (well I did the comparison to Michael Jackson few hours ago) :-)

You can see it there, I am not going to copy it for you.

Actually, it might be dangerous to start with this - some of guys coming here might be willing to explain you why their favourite bands ARE NOT to be compared with NW, too - you mentioned VERY PROFFESIONAL bands, you know.

Who said that I don't comment on Tarja's news? I think I have commented almost every one. Have you read the comments at all? You probably have, but haven't noticed my comments because they are "normal", unlike with Nightwish. Normal news get normal comments. ;-)

mermaid said: "And what do you mean by Nightwish haters? Who could possibly hate the source of so much fun?"

    +1 :-)

And about the song Minor Heaven, I'm totally confused with the lyrics. I understand about 0%. :-p Tarja's lyrics are generally more philosophical while Maestro's are more storytelling.

TheSeer wrote on 02.07.2009 at 15:20

  15. Hi, Seer, good to see you.
I just saw you have been having fun lately - there are 110 comments on yesterdays NW article.

Have you read MFF comment? I am really glad, they put it here - it is quite BORING to run through the same thing again and NW fans are still under some kind of believe that NW is under some kind of spell and MUST answer the same question again and again and again....

even when they are NOT given to them. (as Tero clearly said: they are OLD STORY for publishers so why to bother and ask them AGAIN?)

mermaid wrote on 02.07.2009 at 15:35

  16. mermaid said: "Hi, Seer, good to see you.
I just saw you have been having fun lately - there are 110 comments on yesterdays NW article."

Yes I've been having fun lately (Thank You Maestro! For 2 things: wonderful music in the old era and so much fun from your caricatural behaviour in the new era). Though I'm missing the comments of die-hards. It would be so much more fun with them. Anette fangirls do not count there. :-p I'm particulary missing RockMan. The one who said that I am "the last person he wishes to communicate to". And he also said some time ago: "In the end truth always wins". And now that "The End" he mentioned is drawing nearer, he's gone. So sad. :-(

"even when they are NOT given to them."

So true. Nobody asks Anette about her personal managers, life coaches and assistants YET she misses NO interview where she "decides to reveal" them. Things like "Anette has decided to reveal that she has hired a life coach..." are quite usual these days. If it weren't for Maestro's open letter we would never get to know that Tarja has a manager. At least not from her interviews.

TheSeer wrote on 02.07.2009 at 15:58

  17. Seer: I started (most probably) that fun yesterday :-) , but I had to leave to see lawyer. And now I just saw FUN you had - oh, well, I will go through that tomorrow, while doing some interviews, so, it will be nice to kill time in-between this way.

I was really so upset yesterday about these "reveals" nobody asked for.

But now I am thinking about revealing the fact that my dog has a depression - he actually has it, seriously and a very serious one. :-)

So, die-hards did not pop-up? So very frustrating...

I liked RockMan, too. It was fascinating how he always got "beaten" when he started to lecture someone on "getting some life" etc.

I actually appreciated that usually he "got it" from somebody else, not from the person he was lecturing - as far as I remember.

And when he realized he did not talk for majority, but for minority, it allways used to surprise him.

I am also missing his favourite "nightwish rules!", too, he use to use this when other ways how to win the argument were lost... :-(

mermaid wrote on 02.07.2009 at 16:28

  18. mermaid said: "And now I just saw FUN you had - oh, well, I will go through that tomorrow"

Don't wait that long. Another Tuomas or Anette backstabbing interview might pop-up until then. Or another joint one where everything is perfect. :-) Except that some bad Brazilians were throwing Tarja's pictures on Anette. She should be happy they didn't throw "Tarja crystals" oh her. The ones thoroughly described in Maestro & Diva & Mafioso Book.

"I am also missing his favourite "nightwish rules!", "

Or another one "It's Nightwish music that matters!". How naive from him. Like he hadn't witnessed what happened to Tarja on the Internet after Maestro's open letter. Not only that her character was assasinated by millions of die-hards but also her voice and stage presence became "too technical, cold and distant" after 10 years of being "perfect, epic and unique". So much about "it's only music that matters". ;-)

TheSeer wrote on 02.07.2009 at 16:48

  19. Naivity is not a shame - it is just a state of mind.

And as for RockMan - his naivity looked honest to me. As for another article, I do not think they are going to be so productive - thought something is happening in NW camps.

A week ago I was on their blog and fans discussed some specila surprise they were promised by NW on Hartwall arena show.

I actually remember interview in March I commented on some american web. Maestro revealed there that some huge change is about to happen, something like dream come true thing and I knew I commented on that like: "OMG, they are going to do accoustic music!"

So as far as Hartwall arena is closer, we will see more reveals and hints and staff, sure.

On the other hand - maybe the special surprise will be NO OPEN letter this time?

I would not see much in that, though - look what they use to reveal lately and you will see my point...

mermaid wrote on 02.07.2009 at 17:01

  20. Seer,

Phantom is still adressing us both on "False info about Polish.." article.
    :-)
And as far as I do not speak english at all, as I said already, (and I would not lie - would I?)
    this is up to you.
IF you want to answer him.
He actually stopped his "psychological attitude" for now. :-)

  21. mermaid said: "But now I am thinking about revealing the fact that my dog has a depression - he actually has it, seriously and a very serious one. :-)"

That's why Anette recommends cats in her blog.

"I actually remember interview in March I commented on some american web. Maestro revealed there that some huge change is about to happen, something like dream come true thing and I knew I commented on that like: "OMG, they are going to do accoustic music!" "

You can be pretty sure he didn't mean "ever dream" coming true.

"On the other hand - maybe the special surprise will be NO OPEN letter this time?"

Nothing would surprise me more than that. Not even "ever dream". So let us wait and see.

TheSeer wrote on 02.07.2009 at 17:46

I read that somewhere tooo...!!! He said sth like the dream of dreams coming true and he will probably do it in the next album sth that there isn't in any previous album... I am intrigued and OMG!! Your comment sooo ROFL!!! Acoustic as the original plan!!!!LOL!! maybe as a bonus cd again this time...! Since we had an instrumental as a gift in DPP... Other than that... Seer, Mermaid keep it going!! :)

Only if Maestro could be 18 again "as the original plan". But 33 is still not that late for an identity crisis, pardon, what I meant to say "a dream of all dreams" coming true.

Thunder wrote on 03.07.2009 at 20:31

  32. Thunder. Yes I am. I like to go into this website everyday to look for news about great finnish bands. When you see one artical that has 170 comments you get curious. And guess what. More than half of em are written by the three stooges. And they all quote Anettes blogs. If you read her blog and then come over here to spew your hate and ridicule her, well I guess you have no better things to do in life. You should look up that artical and tell me what you think.

Wrathchild wrote on 03.07.2009 at 21:09

  33. @Wrathchild: If you were impartial maybe people you take you serious man! Just look at what you said, "Tarja's pimp...", they won't stop because you want it. Besides, why can't they say whatever they have to say about anette and you can say whatever you want to say about Tarja? I just don't get it.

After Maestro's letter, Tarja was ridicularised like hell! People are just making justice. It's funny that nobody cared when they almost destroied Tarja's career. You know, what goes around comes around. It's just coming around. If you don't like what you read you should blame Maestro's soap opera and not TheSeer, Mermaid and Legion for that. I bet if they had fired Tarja in a discent way, and picked up Anette after it, nothing of this sh*t would be happening.

Mwaha wrote on 04.07.2009 at 00:07

  34. Mwaha. Tuomas is no "maestro" He´s just a rock`n`roll musician. That´s all. Glad you noticed the three stooges!

Wrathchild wrote on 04.07.2009 at 00:28

  35. Damn, looks like I fired the first shot. lol.

First, let me say that I did not mean to piss off anyone with my first post. I meant it as a joke. I knew I should have thrown in a ;D.

I have been on this site for a while, but I don't read much of the NW posts. I have only read a couple of Marco interviews and one Tuomas interview, and nothing with Annette.

The Tuomas interview I read was done two months ago and is one of the best interviews I have ever read. It really gets into Tuomas writing process and how he puts his emotions into his music.

And best of all... TARJA IS NOT MENTIONED ONCE. Tuomas even mentions how he hates talking about the band's past. Read the interview Here:

    http://www.metalreviews.com/interviews/interviews.php?id=130

Admittedly, I became a Nightwish fan in September of 2008 after I heard "Sleeping Sun" and saw them at the Wiltern. This means that I didn't have to go through the traumatic process of being an NW fan during the winter of 2005. Still, I try not to let the personal problems of any musician get in the way of how I enjoy their albums. If I did, I would never be able to enjoy Lennon or McCartney, especially since they flamed at each other after the Beatles broke up.

It was Tarja that made me realize that. I saw her at the House of Blues Sunset. After the show, I told her how I sometimes feel torn between her music and NW, and she said, "Don't be. You shouldn't let the personal faults of the guys get in the way of the beautiful music we made, and the music they still make today."

So my policy when looking at MFF posts? If it's not live show photos or new music info, I'M NOT INTERESTED. :)

Jeremy wrote on 04.07.2009 at 03:54

  36. Wow,it's really funny to see people mentioning me and others in an article that we haven't even posted anything!
And of course at the same time people are complaining when we do! :P

    @Jeremy

Articles about Tarja never need bitching, because she doesn't bad mouth NW,she doesn't even talk about NW.she doesn't run a page advertising her clothing sponsors and her little "cossy life",as someone correctly said, she doesn't abandon shows, she doesn't forget lyrics, she doesn't hire assistants and life-coaches.
But in the same time, people (call them NW fan girls) still attack her for being professional, still atack her for having Marcelo next to her(that's ONE man.not 3 like Olzon),still saying that she is a greedy diva when in the same time Olzon posts thta you must assure that you get paid for EVERYTHING.

"The compensation and "more money from everything" is what we are most dissapointed of!"--------Tuomas in a letter.

That's why we don't post here. But it's obvious that you just accuse without even knowing, because THERE are posts from us in other Tarja's articles.

Legeon wrote on 04.07.2009 at 17:11

  37. I now truly have much more respect regarding Tarja and her career. Cause she really moved on. And I maybe don't like all her solo stuff, but I liked Oasis and I was so impressed to find out that she composed it herself. And I saw that people really enjoyed her performance at that fest, some guys were having such a great time, they even start edto dance to "Die Alive". It was lol, so funny and they seemd so happy.
And yeah, people do not write those complain comments about Tarja cause she doesn't make drama out of her career. So it is stupid to blame her,MFF, other people when somebody make some not pinky comments about NW. Especially it is stupid to do it in Tarja topic. Go to NW topic and lecture there.
