H.I.M.: 9 minute interview of Ville at Spin Earth available

Mayra Dias Gomes of Spin Earth interviewed Ville Valo in Helsinki and the messenger of Love Metal spoke about love, relationships, literature, drugs and alcohol. Mayra writes about Ville in the following manner:

"Ville Valo is pure poetry: a melancholic romantic who lives in a beautiful castle in exotic Helsinki with the lessons of a crazy past fueled by too much alcohol and drugs. A Tim Burton character, perhaps, who could only be played by Johnny Depp. (With his eyeliners on, of course.) A man who fights aggressive demons of love and death and doesn't mind when they embrace, because if they do, then something will come out of it.

Ville is about to release his seventh studio album with the successful Finnish band H.I.M., and hasn't been drinking for two years. Yet, his feelings seem to take him into psychodelic experiences. He will always dive into a violent ocean of black waves and come out with a fish to share with the people. In this case, it's "Screamworks: Love In Theory and Practice", which will be out on Valentine's Day 2010.

I met the instigating representative of Love Metal last week in Helsinki for a chat and some Red bull. He talked to me about love, relationships, literature, drugs and alcohol, and sent all of you Spin Earth viewers a message. Humble and sweet, he seemed eager to start speaking about the new phase in his life.

  1. I couldn't see the whole thing... I don't know if it's supposed to be like that or if there's something wrong with my internet connection...
he sounds funny and in a very good mood. I never noticed how blonde he actually is (eyebrows, facial hair). Both the interviewer and Ville seem nervous... I can't blame the girl, and it also looks like Ville had a little crush on her xD

I hate to say this, but in the first picture during the video, I almost thought Ville was Maestro Oceansoul.

  2. Hi, Blackwood,

It is not your connection, it is poor quality. I was so pleased to see some normal interview - and this man is so witty and smart and interesting - and HIM is my favourite band, too.

Yet, it is too annoying to try to watch that. Any idea if it is writen somewhere, so at least we might be able to read it if we can not hear it properly?

As for comparison to Maestro: he really looks strange with that moustache thing - he looks like caring a dead mouse under his nose, indeed!

  3. xDDD

"carrying a dead mouse under his nose"

I think the best thing the two could do is either start dying their facial hair, or go blonde, although I can't imagine how that would work out for neither of them.

  4. yeah, ive been listening 2 H.I.M. for a while now and i really dont see Ville as just a singer, but as a poet.

  5. Ville is a great poet, that is so very true and that is the reason why HIM are my favourite band since very beginning.
