TARJA TURUNEN Announces Band Lineup For 'Final Storm Tour 2009'

Former NIGHTWISH singer Tarja Turunen has announced the lineup of her band for the "Final Storm Tour 2009", which is scheduled to kick off on September 19 at the Elf Fantasy Fair in Arcen, Netherlands. It is as follows:
* Tarja Turunen - Voice
* Mike Terrana (MASTERPLAN, SAVAGE CIRCUS, RAGE, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN) - Drums
* Christian Kretschmar (SCHILLER) - Keyboards
* Oliver Holzwarth (BLIND GUARDIAN, SIEGES EVEN) - Bass
* Alex Scholpp (FARMER BOYS) - Guitar
* Max Lilja (HEVEIN, APOCALYPTICA) - Cello

Tarja Turunen's band for her Summer Storm 2009 Tour consisted of the following musicians:
* Tarja Turunen - Vocals
* Mike Terrana (MASTERPLAN, SAVAGE CIRCUS, ex-RAGE, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN) - Drums
* Maria Ilmoniemi - Keyboards
* Doug Wimbish (LIVING COLOUR, MADONNA, JEFF BECK, THE ROLLING STONES) - Bass
* Kiko Loureiro (ANGRA) - Guitar
* Max Lilja (HEVEIN, ex-APOCALYPTICA) - Cello
Tarja Turunen has set "What Lies Beneath" as the working title of her new solo CD, tentatively due in early 2010. She says, "With [2007's] 'My Winter Storm', I chose the name of the album in the early stages and that helped me to create the concept for the album. With the new album, I decided to do it the same way, so I searched for an inspiring title and all the songs are one way or another related to it."

That's great news! I'm going to see her live soon. I like that she changes the setlist all the time. If she plays Tired of Being Alone she will end up playing LITERALLY every new song she's got. :-)

James: Farmer Boys are a German band that's rather unique and hard to categorise I suppose. They've been compared to Rammstein, and their lyrics are pretty tongue-in-cheek. Currently the project seems to be in hiatus. Their singer, Matthias Sayer, sang on Apocalyptica's single "Hope Vol.2".
You know what? I've found an Austrian website where Kiko Loureiro's new solo album Fullblast was announced, and they wrote "Kiko Loureiro (TARJA)" when I would have expected "(ANGRA)". LOL.
Seems she's bigger than Angra now. I call that successful. :-)

Tuomas also chooses to be drunk as a lord all the time and to wear heavy makeup on the face as if some kind of emo, you see his choices are not always smart. So the fact that he chose Anette doesn't prove anything. Well, he made a bad choice. And not all his songs are great or his lyrics are great. He is not a genius and not a saint. And he is the same Tuomas who is acting like a coward and likes to whine a lot.

Yes Tuomas wrote the songs and Tarja has been famous because of the way of singing. Remerber that Anette sings Tuomas songs too and she is not so famous, think about it.

Since she performs in solo, there's a kind of over-dramatization/lack of natural feature in Tarja's voice, music and live performance that I can hardly deal with. With Nw , strangely, she seemed more enthralled by the music, there was less show and better interpretation, imo. I just feel she 's not in the music, like the others.

But Tuomas was also a main contributor to their success as well, however Tarja put them where they are now no doubt about that.
NW would be among the 100,000 struggling artists among the scene nowadays IF Anette was in the band instead of Tarja from the beginning. Anette's voice does sound very common in rock/pop today, plus she's only a mediocre pop/rock singer at best. She probably won't even do that well in singing competitions either(sorry Wrathchild but it's true XD).
No, I am not saying this because I am a Tarjaholic FYI, but Renan made a good point though. Tarja has a deep, chilling sound to her voice that sounded so different from everyone else back then. That gave NW their edge. Now they sound so common and lifeless unfortuneatly with their uninspired songwriting in comparison to their older works. Oh well, it's their choice...

You know we, normal people and metal fans, do not call her that, only if with irony. It is her fans who call her that and she indulges that A LOT :) I think it is because her idol is Britney Spears, who is called Pop Princess and Anette would like to be and feel herself Metal Princess.

James +100! Great point. As far as I remember the Old NW was always praised for that cool combination of Music and Voice, they were like on equal terms, equally powerful. And the funny thing that I noticed while reading reviews about DPP or listening DPP is that now it is more about Music and the voice is just somewhere out there, on second place :) I'm quite sorry, that they chose singer who actually sounds like Amy Lee or Aylin (singer from Sirenia).

Is just that I found this cool web page some time ago, and Though I understand that you call Anette "princess" in a sarcastic way, I'm annoyed by that, because I'm sure that she likes to be called that way... I mean: is obvious that Olzon refuses to accept her real age, that's why she dresses and acts like a teenager. Let's better call her "granny"... it fits better with her... :-)
And back to the topic: Tarja's new band... I've seen Tarja live with two different line ups, and she kicked asses both times, so I'm sure that she'll blow us away again!! ;-)
