The concert is still not sold out?! But NW fans were claiming that it was sold out in July! LOl!!!!!!!
MFF Staff: Probably it was but these things happen when people refuse for some reason to claim the tickets or whatever. Or in this case they simply found a way to add more seats to the venue.

I care...for Apocalyptica.
Hell, I used to be a huge NW fan, but I'd probably wouldn't wait to see them now. Even after paying shitloads of money to get to Finland and find a hotel. It's not just because I've done many rediculous things to see Apocalyptica before, it's also because....what happened to Nightwish?! After seeing them in March and having them completely ignore all of us dedicated fans after the gig (the support band claiming that they had to be somewhere when actually the next gig was in three days) I have lost faith in them. If they're not a nice band, I can't support them. Having respect for your fans is important, and they have none.
Ok, rant over. I WOULD STILL SELL MY SOUL TO BE THERE!! D:<

They built up more tribunes? :))) Yeah right.
Probably some people bought tickets, then recalled Anette, thought twice and returned them :)

Hi, Tero,
good to see you. I hope you realized how less work you had today - i finally managed to get those guys to Forum.
____________________________
As for this matter - I remember somebody saying here some time ago, that last time was audience full empty for NW
but people fill it for Apocalyptica, who played after NW.
Would not it be just sweet, if people will leave Hartwall arena AFTER Apocalyptica?
Still, we expect LONG report about this - if you are really going to be there.
MFF Staff: Thank you for taking the forum :) It does make my work a bit easier on this side. Well I of course hope people would stay to see NW also. But I think there are both bands very well presented in the audience so let's see what happens.
I am not personally going there...I saw NW on this years Sauna Open Air in Tampere and I wasn't too impressed. I like the band but it was...how should I put it...a bit tiresome. Well it was 3rd day in the festival and last show so maybe me being tired helped.

But now, baby, New NW fans are active , do not underestimate them. ;P
Tero, it was so nice to read that you were not impressed by New NW. Well, I can understand why you weren't. Still I understand that you are not a NW fan in general- neither of Old, nor of New Era, but I'm glad you are not one of those precious New NW fans :) It means that the MFF is in the hands of reasonable person.
And about still unsold out concert, hey probably it is also Diva's fault! :))

they have signing sessions i sugest you go to them i have and they pretty dam amazing

Ron wrote on 16.09.2009 at 20:19
Eh, I live in the U.S. Too far anyways IF I were to see them. But judging from what Apocalyptigasm said about ignoring the fans and stuff, I probably will just save my money if I had that opportunity. Things like that is why NW is losing fans unfortunately. Although, 4 years ago, going to Hartwall MIGHT have been worth spending to see them. ;)
James wrote on 16.09.2009 at 21:28

Nightwish COULD have stayed afterwards, but they never showed up. That would really piss me off too if I were there.
James wrote on 16.09.2009 at 21:30
Apocalyptigasm, yeah, it is not first time they ignore their fans, but do not bother about them, they like to make a pose of caring band and to talk about it a lot, but in truth they are not all that ideal as they want to seem :)

Miro wrote on 16.09.2009 at 21:52
JT, well, the tickets went on sale in the very beginning of April and the concert was fully sold out only three days before the gig. It is quite funny actually, since it is final gig of DPP tour and in their own country, LOL
Diana wrote on 16.09.2009 at 22:17
@Jack UK,
I've met Eicca Toppinen (he was in a rush to get into the venue and still stayed to talk), Apocalyptica as a whole again and they were leaving to go home the next day to their families for christmas, same with the support band Swallow The Sun. I met Diablo when they had to be in Paris the next day (from London), The Rasmus even though they had to go to Belgium (also from London) the next day and Eero Heinonen again even though they had to travel to the opposite side of Britain the next day AND had done two shows and a signing session that day. And yes, they all spoke to every fan.
Even though that is not many bands, it is still enough to prove my point that Nightwish ignoring us when they weren't playing anywhere for three days was just disrespectful. Every famous person I've ever met (including the other non-gig-related times) has had nothing but respect for their fans, and I was severly disappointed by Nightwish I'm afraid. And I hear that they do it at every show, that's just...awful.
@James, I agree. I found that out the hard way! I waited for bloody ages for NW to blank everybody and leave. Anette spoke to a few people then legged it.
@Max, that is exactly what has happened I mean, I used to love Nightwish. Now I seem to listen to their music less and less.
Apocalyptigasm wrote on 16.09.2009 at 22:43
You people are so funny!! The band is disrespectful if they didn't come out and hang around with people, and now you stopped listening to their music because of that? I'm sorry but this is funny. Stop listening to the music if you don't like it, not because the bandmembers didn't come out and hang around with you after a show. If you like their music, be happy about them coming to your town/country, so you actually got the chance to see them live, on stage, doing a show. As to seeing them after the show, what does it mean for you, really? Okay, you get an autograph and a pic and maybe utter a few words, but that's it... And gosh, there are so many bands who don't ever meet fans after their shows, and people don't cry about it!! (even though Nightwish did come out after quite some shows during this tour, but after all I've read and what i've seen about some fans behaviour with my own eyes, I wouldn't be surprised if they actually never decided to do that again!)
Also, I wonder, If a friend of yours doesn't have time for you every time you want to hang out with them, are they disrespectful too, and does that make them bad friends?
And another question: do you consider yourselves respectful fans? If so, I hope you own all their albums in the original form, and not downloaded from the net :-)
over and out.

passer-by, they were just emo's comments, calm down......
TT wrote on 17.09.2009 at 00:43
passer-by,
lol, NW themselves made a big deal that whenever a fan approach you to chat, get pic or autograph, you should grant him or her with it straight away, no matter if you are tired, sick, etc. And after that they ened up to brake their own rule and neglect those things! They made a pose and then failed to comply with own "beautiful words"?! It is called hypocrisy.
not amused wrote on 17.09.2009 at 01:23
Passer-by,
I'm not saying that I DEFINATELY stopped listening to them because of that, I still listen to them and I'm sure there are other good reasons. But I find it hard to truly support a band that ignores the people that support THEM. Yes there are bands that don't meet anyone after gigs well...I am not fans of them.
So to you, meeting a band is just a few words and pictures, fair enough. Meeting my favourite band (Apocalyptica) was the biggest dream in my life. It was not a few words, I had a whole conversation with all of them, Eicca even gave me a ma-husive long cuddle because I couldn't control my emotions. Call me obsessed but they are my idols nonetheless and they've never let me down in any way and I've been a fan since I was 10. If they ever became stuck up I would be let down also, as I am with Nightwish. You and I do not see eye to eye about what music means to us.
I am a dedicated fan, I only EVER buy CD's and I go to as many of their gigs as I can. I blew all my savings and travelled to the other side of the country to see them this year. It USED to be the same with Nightwish. Then in March I tried to meet them, and realised that these people I idolised really weren't how I thought they were. I've been noticing it more and more ever since. Now I don't know where I stand with them and it saddens me greatly because they're all really amazing musicians.
It's not the same with friends because we see each other all the time, NW should know that these fans just want to wish them well but I know what you mean about the abusive ones. I have considered this also, but all the people in London that day were blatently FANS. If they couldn't be arsed to speak to us, they should say so like friends do. Lies and secrets don't get people anywhere.
Apocalyptigasm wrote on 17.09.2009 at 01:29
Rather than provide my own opinion, I'm just gonna use this post to show what Tuomas said in an interview in May concerning what you guys are talking about:
"I've seen the effect that I or another band member can have on a fan. It takes one minute of your life to go and see somebody and take a picture with him or her, sign an autograph and chat a few words. And they live five years longer because of that. You can see it in their eyes, it means the world to them. Sometimes you simply can't though, you don't have the time or the energy and you just can't do it. Later on you feel like "I could have done it." I have that power to influence people and make them feel really good or really bad by not meeting them or doing something wrong unintentionally and that I have a hard time coping with."
The rest of the interview can be found here:
http://www.metalreviews.com/interviews/interviews.php?id=130
I should note that this review does not mention Tarja AT ALL.
Jeremy wrote on 17.09.2009 at 03:26
Just in my line of experience, I saw Nightwish in May of 2008, and again in May of this year ('09); apparently May is the popular time to make it to my state in the US! XD But at both of those shows, fans were able to meet with the members of Nightwish. At the one in 2008, they were meeting with fans after the show out back, and at the one this past May, there was a signing session before the show. Actually, a friend of mine got an absolutely hilarious photo with Marco at the first show. :)
So I don't know, I can't imagine why Nightwish would meet with fans in a pretty much ignored place like here in KY but not elsewhere.
Regardless, I love Apocalyptica, too, and I'd love to see this show. Not that I would ever be able to get my ass to Finland, although I'd love the opportunity to do so. ;3 A little too pricey for me right now.
Arcana wrote on 17.09.2009 at 04:37
@Apocalyptigasm
If I can recall, I have met Nightwish twice, without any rush, but this was in America. Anyway, look how long they have been on tour, the amount of interviews, and needed rest. They are people too, and so what if they need time to themselves? They may be a GREAT band, and my favorite, but I wouldn't stop liking them if they chose not to meet us fans.
Anyway, I would give ANYTHING to go to Finland to see Nightwish, that's a DREAM. :D
Stephanie wrote on 17.09.2009 at 06:19
Jeremy, you are wrong.
Tuomas once made interview saying that no matter if you are tired or sick, you must give time to fans, lol It were his own words, they were said about their first singer, to show how bad it was of her not to give somebody attention when she was tired or sick. And now Tuomas makes special rules for himself and the band and says that it is not always possible to do that, he can't do that, he is only human and such. How "honest" and comfortable for him. Tuomas like to do and talk crap about others, but when it comes to him,he can do anything! Liar.
Apocalyptigasm, really it is not the first time they do that, or their singer does that. I also know lots of examples of theirattitude. And their devoted fans then try to find lots of excuses why it was perfectly ok for them to ignore fans. As you may see in this thread. But in truth they do it more and more often :)
Steve wrote on 17.09.2009 at 09:22
Apocalyptigasm, I support you, me and my friend also once wanted to meet them, and they didn't pay any attention to the fans, ignored them completely. They obviously didn't have to go anywhere, they were not tired as they were chatting with each other a lot, laughing, just enjoying themselves but they didn't want to spend even several minutes for their fans, and there were not many fans waiting for them, so it wasn't really hard for them, and their singer, current one, made a dull face when somebody asked her to give autograph, and said something like "she is not in the mood", only severeal seconds before that she was chatting, laughing and so on quite a lot. And then they make poses that they are always loyal to their fans! Gosh! That is so pathetic.

I was just checking on daily entertainment blog and here I have some interesting and important thoughts from Princess herself:
On general philosophy:
"The time went way to fast, as always, too;=) There´s just to much stores and restaurants to visit...;=)"
"My grandmother died from that same one and she died so fast that I am amazed by Patricks strength. Rest in piece, Patrick," (who would like to rest in many pieces, rafter all?)
"Otherwise not so much shopping, just looking around and enjoying some nice food, café lattes with whipped cream (yummie!) and the sun. It was totally clear-blue sky in the evening and I felt so much autumn and nice air in my nostrils;=)" - imagine THAT!
Re: Ring on her finger: "You cant see it but there is a little skull on it too and you know now that I love skull-things;=) "
On packing: "But ok, no more wining...Anette- go pack!!!!!! Now!!!!"
mermaid wrote on 17.09.2009 at 10:47
"There´s just to much stores and restaurants to visit...;=)"
The main interests of that woman are endless shopping and eating. I do not understand why she does that when she always dresses awfully and became quite fat! :) She is plain like a log.
"My grandmother died from that same one and she died so fast that I am amazed by Patricks strength. Rest in piece, Patrick," (who would like to rest in many pieces, rafter all?) "
And somebody was saying something about someone's not good English. Lol And she is again PRing herself on the death of some famous person she not even met in life.
"You cant see it but there is a little skull on it too and you know now that I love skull-things;=) "
Anette is trying to sound like a goth girl, duh :) Seriously, is she going to post photo of her underwear with skull on it?
"But ok, no more wining...Anette- go pack!!!!!! Now!!!!"
It is always nice when person is talking with oneself. Wining? What is she wining? Another tiara? And really she should stop whining, cause she does it a lot (when she doesn't talk about herself, of course).

Just looking down the news at MFF ...Insomnium 2 comments, Ensiferum 0 comments, Nightwish 31 comments... I reckon we all go over to Ensiferum and Insomnium and talk about how good their new albums both are and how much we're looking forward to Kalmah's follow-up to For The Revolution. Or we could stay here and talk about Hail Of Bullets, I could totally go for that. Either way, I'm sick of hearing about Anette. Never thought her voice was that offensive but seriously, the woman does not deserve this much attention whether positive or negative. Thoughts on the new Nightrage album?
MFF Staff: Well Jon what can I say about all this...NW, Anette and Tarja-related topics get 99% of all comments. All in all it's fine by me but I would love to see comments on other news as well.

Jon, you said it dude, only the thing is that NW's overlords created the whole mess with letters, scandals,PR, interviews and other cute things, so now naturally they get lots of attention. And Anette really doesn't deserve attention, but she does everything to get it, you know, says dumb things, puts down something officially and acts like she is the Queen of the world. The only thing she hasn't done yet is running around naked or uploading her sex videos online, lol
So that's the point why people pay lots of attention to it. Other great bands are not so scandalous.
Tero, imagine the happy picture - you do not post NW, Anette, Tarja related news anymore and everybody start finally talking about other bands. Perfect picture, isn't it?

Pluto wrote on 17.09.2009 at 12:26
At first I thought I should not comment this topic at all but it just makes me sick to read these comments. I know, know - if it makes you sick, don't read them at all. And in the future I won't be doing that. But I just wanted to say one thing: grow up people. NW is just a band. A band like any other. Yes, I'm a huge fan, I've been one many years and even tough I'm totally sick I'm still going to see them on Saturday. AND I've never met them in person. But it's not important for me to meet them in person - an idol is someone you rarely get to meet and to accuse NW or any other band of being disrespectful because of not meeting fans after concert it just plain childish. It's not the end of the world - because MUSIC should be that matters. And also about taking parts out of Anette's blog - that is just who she is, Tarja is also just who she is. Why we always have to bring out that "OMG Tarja said that" or "OMG Anette wrote that on her blog". NW is a band, Tarja a musician and in the end music should be the thing that matters not clothes, attitude, meeting fans or any other thing like that. Because of music you started to notice a band, musician or singer. MUSIC, not clothes, attitude or if they met fans after concert. Be more positive, enjoy the music and stop complaining about everything :)

Moscow gig;=)
So, the trip to Moscow was long and a bit stressy but as I said, so worth it! The fans and people were all incredibly nice and the fanclub gave me and the boys such nice gifts that we all were overwhelmed! They had made a big map with all the names of Nightwish songs and Tuomas was so touched by it and I know he will hang it on a wall in his house;=) Thanks to everyone!!!!
I didnt see almost anything of Moscow this time due to the lack of time, but I know we will come back again and then I will see to that I can see the city. I did buy a nice babushka doll and I love it;=)
The gig was great and Pain-boys played as always, amazingly good;=) Then we took the stage and I was really really excited! Almost to "on" but I was so thrilled to be there and the audience was so on and sang the songs so loud that I could have given them the microphone the whole gig;=) And as some of you already know, I dropped the microphone too...hehe! I dont know what happened but it just slipped through my hands...haha!
After the gig I met some nice fans outside and took photos etc and the warmth from all of you made me feel so happy. We then had an afterparty at the hotel and I stayed up very late this time, I normally always go to bed first, but when the feeling is that good and Pain are with us, we all have nice parties;=)
So Moscow, I can assure you that I will be back!!! And I am already longing to see all of you again;=) SPASIBA!!!

Actually we are saying the same thing. The very reason we criticize them is because THEY act like that.THEY give importance to attitude, bashing other artists, making thousands of useless interviews...
And it's their singer that gives MUCH MORE importance in clothes.
If you see her blog, for 1 post about NW's concerta(which is to show her outfits) there are 20 posts filled with clothes,food,wallpapers,pseudo-psychological rants of a woman in middle-age crisis.
We judge them exactly because they behave like that.Because they show that music is what matters less.

And if Anette will fall on floor, or do anything so typically entertaining, give us a full report on that!

Did you actually notice that "they" means "her" and that she stated out many times the her blog was a personal blog ( like many people have one writing shit about their privat life or like facebook shit or Twitter bullshit ).
Again, I like Nightwish with Anette but do never read her blog as long as she doesn't talk about NW. ( like I never read any blog or Facebook...I simply don't care )

The absolutely perfect solution would be,

if there will be a sign saying whether somebody is on-line in Forum.
So, you could read the article, then go to forum link and see: these guys are on-line,
Ok, let us go there and chat for a while...

I agree with you!Your comment is very good and it's nice to read how you feel about this all. Many people thinking same way but they don't care to write anything because here is "few persons chat room".I have a very good recipe for you:Learn to know these "few persons" here and don't read their comments even they try to reply to you.Read only other persons comments and maybe reply to them because here is still "proper comments" also. It's so easy!
...almost forget the main point...It's nice if there are still tickets for some lucky ones...Nightwish Rocks...Apocalyptica Rocks!...Have a nice gig!

Well, Enigma, why are you telling us? Maybe you should tell them....
Or do you think they THINK that MUSIC MATTERS?
Steve said:
nd their devoted fans then try to find lots of excuses why it was perfectly ok for them to ignore fans. As you may see in this thread. But in truth they do it more and more often :)
I know for a fact that this is wrong. I went to a NW concert in L.A. with my GRANDFATHER. After the show, the band was talking with people. We were the last to get up to the stand. By that point, only Tuomas and Marco were left. Even though it had been an hour since the show had ended, Tuomas and Marco talked with us for twenty minutes, and we were the ones that ended the conversation, not them.
Mermaid, you accuse the band of not having music as their priority. Our conversation was completely about music. I remember my grandfather and Tuomas discussing Wagner while Marco and I were talking about his work in Tarot. We told jokes and discussed how each of their albums has a different taste to it. It was the same kind of experience that Apocalyptigasm had with Apocalyptica.
I can't speak for Anette -- who has frustrated me with the solo record deal -- but I can confidently say that the Tuomas I met that night is not the MAESTRO that you and Legeon constantly make him out to be.
Legeon, you say that the band has not moved on past Tarja, but don't you think that part of the reason for this may be because the world will not allow them to? The overwhelming majority of interviews they have are always comparing them to their past albums. "Are there gonna be any firings at Hartwall?" "What's Anette doing?"
It's safe to say that while Tarja will be able to move on, NW never will because for so many fans, Tarja was what made it special. A Nightwish without Tarja is like a Rolling Stones without Mick Jagger. The scrutiny is never going to end, and that's something NW and their fans will have to live with.
Jeremy wrote on 18.09.2009 at 03:25
enigma: You got the point about hypocrisy, did you? It's not *us* who have suddenly started to care about the attitude of the band, like out of the blue. All we are doing is holding them against their own standards that they keep pretending to take VERY seriously.
You know, once there was a band called Nightwish which supported the famous Rage - and after the support act, lots of people left the venue.
Phantom: Tuomas said nobody will be fired. But that still does not preclude my idea that band members might leave on their own initiative.
Almagest wrote on 18.09.2009 at 04:42
Phantom: If that sounds like sophistry - I'm used to NW twisting words to suit their needs.
Almagest wrote on 18.09.2009 at 04:47
Hi Tero, apologies for the late reply. All I can say is it is a shame. Whenever I do discuss Nightwish, I talk about the music. But I feel it's a little like when I'm by the coffee machine at work; I would love to talk about when the new Iron Maiden album is coming out, is Megadeth's Endgame a genuine latter day classic by them (I think maybe!), etc, but everyone just wants to talk about scandal and gossip. Ashley Cole cheated on Cheryl Tweedy, yeah it's very sad, but I don't actually care about that as much as I do about listening to awesome music ya dig. Sorry Cheryl! And it's the same here; everyone just wants to gossip, and this is a metal community! I do try starting discussions on other bands' news, but nobody really seems into it. Maybe I need to try harder.
@OceanWithin don't be silly! Whether or not you've been reading gossip about the personal lives of Nightwish's members, go to their concert and have a good time mate! I've admitted that their music isn't as sweet to the ears as once it was, but I've seen them twice with Anette and had a great time both times! Plus, now they are starting to play older songs. I saw the first live performance of The Escapist which is an awesome DPP b-side, if they play that you are in for a treat. Also Ghost Love Score and Romanticide may well be on the setlist. Just go and have a great time on my behalf, I'd join you if I wasn't all the way in SE Asia! :D
Jon wrote on 18.09.2009 at 06:32
Some NW hardcore fans completely miss the point that it is NW's singer who pays huge attention to talking about clothes, foods, and crap like that. It is her priorities, so of course people would discuss it, cause they see that it matters for her more than anything else.
And the band itself is also not so keen on music anymore, more on money, drama, PR, whatever.
OceanWithin, it is not her personal private blog, lol, personal private blogs are usually closed, except for friends and people which were invited to it, to remain personal and private indeed. So if she wanted personal private blog, she would have made it that way. But no, she made it open and official, cause she wanted public attention a lot. So she gets it.
And the excuse that the band can't move on because of the fans is stupid. If they wanted they would have moved on. But they actually do not want it that much, cause it is easy to cover their backs with returning to that old story with mentioning their first singer and trying to look ideal and innocent.
And yes I know how NW can ignore their fans, as my friends were ignored by them very rudely, but NW fanatics always will claim how kind they are! Lol
Jon your examples about GLS and Romanticide are very bad ones, since Anette did a good job in ruining them and other old songs.
Almagest, and before they fired their first singer, Tuomas said that they are going to fire her? Or that she is going to leave the band? :) And he also was saying in past that if their first singer would leave the band, it would be the end of NW. So? So not all his words are always true.
Willy wrote on 18.09.2009 at 09:42
Well, since New NW really sucks on stage live, I wouldn't go to see them. They degraded to some Evanescence-clone.
Zelda wrote on 18.09.2009 at 09:52
Apocalyptica is better now than the current NW!
Afan wrote on 18.09.2009 at 09:54
enigma,
you say music is only that matters? Really? And NW fired their first singer not for "music" or "singing", they fired her for her "attitude", "meeting with fans", and for things like "Tarja said". And now they should be judged only by music? enigma, that's hypocrisy.
Geordie wrote on 18.09.2009 at 09:59
@Jeremy
The argument about "magazines don't let them forget" is old but void.
Let me explain you why.
Of course every interviewer asks them about Tarja. But you HONESTLY think that they HAVE to answer?
Artists tell before the interview what they won't talk about, and what the interviewer shouldn't ask.
Interviewers ask Tarja about NW too all the time?
You know what she answers?
"I only with them the best, that's all i've got to say".
And nothing happens.
So don't believe that NW are trapped and obliged to talk about Tarja.
And yes, they've forgotten that it's all about the music.
They only care for interviews, water company contracts, brands of clothing...
And in the meantime, they've forgot how these poor songs are supposed to be performed, musically and lyrically.

He could turn himself into a walking iceman, taking in account how many boots and other "naughty" stuff Anette wears. But maybe Tuomas tries to stay "mysteriously romantic", and large grin doesn't help that image a lot.

After the rehearsals, she said that she must fix her make-up because she had to go t the radio interview...
For those who didn't get it:
Make-up for a RADIO interview...
But then, she's a woman(at least that's what i think, apparently her fans have different opinion saying that she's a tenor :P) and she maybe wants to look good meeting people...
But why EMPHASIZE that? Why pointing out that she MUST fix her make up,which is after all for a radio interview?
The only explanation i can give is that she cares too much about those things(like we didn't already know that!) or that her life is REALLY boring...
I suppose it's a matter of time when she'll post that she MUST put on a blouse for super-market.It's essential and it must be mentioned, after all.

And, AncientMuse, as the first one here, has got it RIGHT!
That is the reason for "frozen" Maestro´s look - rehersals are done in "full armour", because they, naturally, do not need to reherse SIGNING or PLAYING INSTRUMENTS !!
That would not make any sense now, in the very END, would it??
So, maestro is rehersing his Aura Of The Mystery
and Princess is rehersing her Make-Up.
And, as you see, she is SO TIRED AFTER THAT, that it definitely is going to be a very heavy make-up, indeed!
The Aura of Mystery, fully charged, does weight about 4 kilos, BTW, so no doubts that since Mastro stopped his body-building´s exercises... well, it is a bit heavy for him, too...

Back...
..from the nice massage and today we also coloured my eye brows and lashes. Next week Emma wanted me to try the stone massage instead, which is the massage but you also get hot stones on the back to ease the ache. Sounds very nice,=)
The ring I showed you in the last post, was a ring I bought yesterday and I love it. You cant see it but there is a little skull on it too and you know now that I love skull-things;=) Bought the ring at ParisTexas, a cool store with lots of my favourite brands such as Alexander Wang, Rica, Erin Wasson/RICA etc...
I also got a hold of a pair of thigh-high black boots from Zara that I was on the search for;=) They look hot!
Otherwise not so much shopping, just looking around and enjoying some nice food, café lattes with whipped cream (yummie!) and the sun. It was totally clear-blue sky in the evening and I felt so much autumn and nice air in my nostrils;=)
And as many others, today I think of Patrick Swayzes closest ones in the loss of their beloved Patrick, who put up a great fight against a horrible cancer in the stomach. My grandmother died from that same one and she died so fast that I am amazed by Patricks strength. Rest in piece, Patrick, I will always love Ghost, Dirty Dancing, Road House and North and South.

Because thanks to it all I finally understood what Anette is thinking about while she is singing NW songs live, the ones with dramatic lyrics and such, she is thinking about: "Oh, how I want those Dolce & Gabbana's stuff, oh I want that stuff from Gucci, oh, I'll buy those things from Alexander Wang, Rica, Erin Wasson/RICA as soon as the concert ends". That's why she can't transmit the right feelings of the songs! Her head is jammed with clothes brands and shopping!

small and big
which finally get reflected in an art via the creativity of artist in question.
So, this is vitally important indeed

I'm reading diferent points of view about if NW talk or doens't talk (as an example) with fans.
As I can see people from US say that they are very nice with them, people from other parts of the world, say they aren't.
I think that they are so nice in the US because they are quite "new" there, I mean, they have been there 2 or 3 times total.
I remember when I saw NW the first time in 2002, they were very nice, they did a signing session where all of us could take pics and talk to them. But now that they've come like 5 or 6 times to Spain they don't have interest in fans, they know that they have fans, and no interest if taking care of them...
I don't know, this is my oppinion...

They just can't please everybody.

But do not be jealous, sweetheart, you have to be strong to overcome your passion for me and do not hurt your polar bear, do not dump him.
I do find Legeon nice as a person. And I remember something about her hourglass figure or something like that :) Should I battle for her, how do you think, mermaid? :P
Phantom, it is amazing, they stayed sober during rehearsal! But will they stay that way during the gig? Questionable.
AncientMuse, I'm glad you understood Princess' s way of thinking, for her the more appealing name of the band would be Fashionwish, I think :)
So, if NW is not going to repeat the exact scenario of 2005, cause it would be cliche for them and Tuomas wants to be very original person, what these gig surprises are going to be? Duets with Apocalyptica? Princess doing the dance of seven vails? Any ideas?
The Riddler wrote on 18.09.2009 at 17:00
Phantom, but NW first made a big issue that if one is not always nice to fans, it makes him (her) at once very bad, it proves him(her) bad, and now when they are not always so attentive and friendly this should be taken as granted, nothing wrong here. It is not very honest of them if not to say more.
I think they indeed are more frinedly with US fans cause they need to become very popular and famous in US and they are already popular and famous in Europe so they do not try there very hard.

Legeon said:
Interviewers ask Tarja about NW too all the time?
You know what she answers?
"I only with them the best, that's all i've got to say".
Legeon,that's not true.
I just bought a copy of PROG magazine from Classic Rock. The magazine was talking about prog metal with Rush as the main article. Tarja was one of those featured.
Not only did Tarja talk about her music with Nightwish, she also talked about her memories from it. She told the magazine about the first time the band heard her sing, the time the band went to an opera by Wagner and got bored by it, and revealed that Once is her favorite NW album and that LISTENING TO OCEANBORN TERRIFIES HER.
You read that right.
Tarja's career w/ NW was discussed just as much as her solo career. I have also seen other recent interviews where she talks candidly about NW. Yes, she didn't talk about NW before, but now that she is finishing her tour and recording another solo album, she does talk about the guys a lot because she has been able to move on.
And let's forget for the moment that the press didn't ask NW about her. Even still the band will not be able to escape being compared to Tarja, both musically and professionally. As I said in the previous post, Tarja was the reason why so many got into NW in the first place. The scars are too deep for these fans to just move on. NW is trapped to Tarja, whether they like it or not.

Jeremy, so you are practically saying that because you think the situation is like this, and NW can't move on and should not move on, NW could continue to moan and whine in their interviews about how their first singer was fired, mention her a lot and compare her a lot with the current vocalist, creating more speculations and battles rather than calming them down?
And according to your logic, since it is perfectly normal that NW CAN'T move on, fans also should not move one, and complain and talk about their current vocalist, future vocalist and stuff like that lots and lots of times?
Interesting point, Jeremy. So you want endless war, you'll get endless war, with a reason to justify it, just do not complain afterwords :)

Do you even understand what you're saying?
You are saying that Tarja spoke about her PAST in NW.
She has said nothing about them now, their new singer, and especially nothing bad,but they still DO speak bad of her.
And they can choose NOT to say those things.
Actually the point was about NW behavior now, which is miles away from "what matters most is music".
And you answer me saying that Tarja spoke about her own past in NW and comparisons between them.
How's that even relevant?

Tarja doesn't talk about NW's current vocalist (only short remark like "I wish her well") and doesn't compare herself with Olzon in her interviews, but NW compare her and Anette in their interviews and always try to remind in different ways how Tarja was fired and what for!
See any difference people?!

Great, now I've started an internet backdraft. AGAIN.
I think that there's a misunderstanding here. I thought that Legeon meant that Tarja never talks about NW AT ALL. Now I understand that he meant that Tarja doesn't talk about NW with Olzon. Sorry about that.
Xena, don't start this stuff about me wanting "an endless war." I don't want it, I'm lamenting it.
After meeting Tuomas, I went on a metal forum and talked about how I really liked the fact that he never allows NW to be tied down to their name. He doesn't let the band end up like KISS, who got criticized for Music From the Elder. I thought that album was great prog work, and it would have gotten great reviews if it hadn't been made by the makeup boys. NW is a band like Opeth and Sonata Arctica. They take their music in new directions regardless of their image, and I find that admirable.
Once I posted this commentary, all the people on the site immediately flamed me and said I was "gay for Tuomas" and that I was a fool for believing his lies. Ever since then I have had to justify liking both Tarja and NW, no matter where I go.
Do I think Tuomas is perfect? No. I have my criticisms of him.
I agree with you guys that the open letter was very callous. I think that his idea of having a MASSIVE TWO YEAR TOUR was very inconsiderate towards his team and ended up putting a massive strain on everyone involved. Had he not done that, I think the Belo Horizonte incident could have been avoided. He's kinda like Ronnie James Dio: a brilliant musician that is notorious for wanting total control of the situation.
But when I came to the NW concert in LA, I just wanted to see Sonata Arctica, and I came out an NW fan. Maybe I'm wrong, but the Tuomas I met and talked to that night felt genuine. I asked him why he didn't play "Master Passion Greed" that night and he said that it's too personal a song and that playing it will send the wrong message.
I have read interviews where Tuomas holds his tongue when talking about Tarja. Legeon, maybe we're not reading the same interviews.
I'm just tired of the acidity I find every time I want to talk about NW somewhere other than a fansite, that's all.
Jeremy wrote on 19.09.2009 at 04:00
This concert is not gonna be even as half as good as the 2005's End of an Era.
That concert was the kind of show that only you have the chance to see once in a lifetime. If they were still with Tarja I would kill to see this one too.

Sorry, I don't think you understood my point. I am not a Nightwish hardcore fan. Just because I am tired of all this water cooler griping on what is supposed to be a music site does not mean I am sticking up for the band. I wasn't making excuses for the band, or claiming that they are 'kind'. In fact, I mentioned several OTHER things we could talk about, as an example of how distorted the conversation becomes on here. I scroll down and I notice that mermaid has now resorted to simply copying and pasting huge sections of Anette's blog onto this page. Hahaha, very funny. I know her blog is crap, but so are most people's, people are boring. This constant analysis of everything she does reminds me of nothing more than a person who gets broken up with and then spends all day stalking their ex on Facebook.
As for Ghost Love Score and Romanticide, it may be your opinion that she ruined them and other songs, but actually there was no need for you to make that point as I was not actually making any comment on whether her performance was as good as Tarja's would have been, I was just saying I ENJOYED MYSELF.
So for the people who think I am some sort of Nightwish PR because my comments don't consist of 'OMG ALL she does is shopp lolol!!111', or the intellectual equivalent anyway, here it is in very simple English.
I am not supporting the band. I do not condone their approach to their fans, and I don't think that Anette is either a good singer or an interesting person.
Once again, I come to Metal sites to talk about Metal, not gossip. Whoever it is about.
I am just trying to make people understand the harm that all this rubbish does to the site. Help me, help you!

Jeremy, it is just there are things that can be said on fan sites because people there are "one big happy family" and well, they are fans, they are always happy with everything their idols/fav artists do do and there are things that can be said at general sites, where many people see world not from fan's point of view. That's all, that's why you point didn't sound nicely here :). I'm glad that you got it.
And about NW taking any new directions in music- well, many people wouldn't like them to turn to more commercial pop-rock or pop-metal or progressive music. I know it is popular in US and sells well, but still :(. It is kinda too cheap transformation if you ask me.
And about talking about Tarja, well, Tuomas wrote those two songs about their ex-singer and her husband, and one of them was perforemd live, was a single and secondly I remember how Tuomas said in interview that "time with Tarja sucked". I know, I know she is diva, greedy and all for lots of NW fans but still, he is a part who tried to be seen as a victim in this conflict to justify he fired her, and he could use better words or not use them at all. Still, there are interviews of NW (and Tuomas is not only member of NW) where instead of giving short answers, they begin to repeat the same story about firing and comparing ex singer to their current singer. Well, it is really lame and it just serves as provocation for people to talk, fight, speculate, whatever. They are adults, they surely understand that. Nobody makes them. They just want to talk it this way. Indeed, Turunen, no matter if she is a diva, not a diva, well no matter how you see her, doesn't speak about NW with Olzon, doesn't compare herself or NW with her with Olzon and NW with Olzon! That's why it is seen that she has moved on. Good for her. But NW must do the same. For reasons people pointed out here already. Period.
I think you got it now, the whole picture, and I hope you just would think better next time before writting something like this on non-NW fan site. It is just friendly advice, it will spear you writting long posts and acidity . So let's finish this discussion here.
Xena wrote on 19.09.2009 at 16:26

you also didn't get my point, I addressed my point not to you in particular but to all who was saying here why people discuss Anette's interests, which are mainly clothes, food and now doing solo album and stuff like that. I agree that we could speak about something else, but the problem is that NW?s frontwoman related news and blog entries lately are mostly like this, after all it is not our fault that she turned out to be such a boring and limited personality. But I can understand why people discuss it or laugh at it and it is the band's fault ,cause they made a soap-opera out of their first singer and things she did.
But I'd gladly discuss some metal news about other metal bands here, I mean on site ;)
About those songs, since you were recommending them, well made them as examples, to another person, I just gave an alternative opinion, since the person wanted to know if to go to concert and why. Nothing criminal here I think.

@ Jon AND Jeremy:
I agree with both of you 100%. Sometimes this site reminds me of political sites I frequent - both American & Canadian - where if you post a dissenting opinion you are immediately labeled a "left wing nut" or similar.
Here, any remotely positive feedback given to Anette, Tuomas, and NW in general is usually cut down immediately and I am labeled an "Olzon follower" or an "Anette fangirl" - or similar.
I am essentially accused of being a sheep with these labels, and I resent it.
I have refrained from stating too much about how I feel about Anette, Tuomas, & Nightwish, because this can be a hostile place to do so, but let me state the following things for the record:
1. I have said in another thread that I have admired certain things about Anette, namely that she's weathered a lot of shit and taken a lot of risks and seems to have proven herself to be a strong soul. Yes, she ran off the stage, etc, etc., but Jesus, she's human. I admire that she followed her dream and respect the journey she chose to undertake by following a dream, because I have done something very similar at a similar age and in a similar situation (no, I didn't join a famous band, obviously, but other than that there are similarities).
BUT...
2. While I think she sounds good on the album, I think she sounds iffy live, and sometimes downright awful live.
3. I read her blog, but it's full of fluff for sure and doesn't contain anything very interesting to me. I mainly read because I'm a blogger myself and I have a bit of a voyeuristic streak - sue me, but I'm hardly unique in that.
4. I'm not a fashionista, so will not comment on her clothing. It doesn't interest me in the least.
5. Anette is WAY far away from being one of my favourite vocalists. If you go to the forum (http://metalfromfinland.forumakers.com/world-metal-f10/favourite-metal-singers-from-anywhere-t55.htm) you can see my list. If you actually read the list, you'll see Tarja is on it, FYI.
6. Anette is human. Period. Tuomas is human. Period. I don't expect celebrities to be anything other than human. If you do, perhaps you need to rethink your expectations, otherwise you're always going to be disappointed.
7. Open letter - SERIOUSLY BAD IDEA. 'Nuff said.
8. I like DPP, I don't think it's poppy, but Oceanborn is my fave Nightwish CD, with once in 2nd place.
9. I really, really hate cyber bullying, which is what all this bashing, name calling, denigrating, poster-making (see TT), etc. etc. basically amounts to. I also don't like to speculate about shit that is irrelevant to the music, like sexuality & sexual preferences, etc. I have been bullied in real life, on the internet, I have been cyber-stalked, trolled, denigrated - you name it - on my own blog, and it's shitty. Therefore, I won't participate in it elsewhere. I resent that because I don't participate in it here and when I post comments that challenge others who do use these schoolyard bully tactics, I get labeled an "Anette fangirl" or "Olzon follower."
10. Tero, your comments form says at the top "No harassment towards others will ever be published." Whom are referring to with the word "others?"
11. I'm sure I'll regret posting this after pressing "send."
CanuckFan wrote on 19.09.2009 at 19:01
@Xena, I'm sorry but Tuomas never said "Time with Tarja sucked". He complained about the last year with her in the band, when things were too fucked up. That's all.

"it is not our fault that she turned out to be such a boring and limited personality."
Oh c'mon, why you say that? You are sooooo mean and jealous (and other things like that she has said for people that don't like her)!
I mean,a REALLY humble and down-to-earth person and a person that is constantly compared to a diva,SHOULD be interested only in clothes, food, clothes, food, shopping clothes, eating more food, and telling the whole freaking planet what she bought and ate.
The sad thing is that, because of some teenage fans with undeveloped brains that tell her she's the queen of the world, she actually thinks that people CARE for all that.
No normal person would care about her agony to buy a purse,or how much she had been searching for stripper boots...
But,we must be the divas. We care about things like history, environment, some of us actually study and spend our money on books(and on clothes too,we just don't do that 24/7 and we don't tell the whole world),we attend seminars or theater shows,we voluntarily take care of animals,we are interested in learning about wars in all the corners of this planet...
We must be really greedy.
AND we are narrow-minded,because we simply can't understand the agony and the everyday suffering and effort to find the perfect wallpaper for our wall.

Well, there lots of singers, namely ex NW singer and many others female singers in metal or rock, are not from English speaking country, but people always bitch about there English really hard, but when it comes to Olzon, there is always a good reason for her not perfect English, because she is not native English speaker. How very touching.
People who do not like or listen to other bands and performers (not only on MFF) surprisingly often go to threads and topics about them and bash them there for not any reason at all. You think NW are so special to get it? You are wrong. Besides NW did a lot of crap to deserve it.
About nice person and contact with fans, I know a lot of examples from other people that she is not so nice always with fans, often ignored them already, people complained about it even in her blog. And she has been only 2 years in the band-not too long to act like this already.
Other bands members do not make solo albums, they only participate in other bands' projects as guest musicians or singers, besides Olzon spent only 2 years in the band. Does she really need whole solo album? Actually she doesn't, she might have done guest appearances, but nope, she needs a solo project. She is not even coping with her job as frontwoman and she already runs to solo stuff. That's stupid. And by the way, there was a singer whose solo recording after 8 years in the band is always seen as a certified proof that she is a soulless diva.

Here we go :)
"Sometimes this site reminds me of political sites I frequent - both American & Canadian - where if you post a dissenting opinion you are immediately labeled a "left wing nut" or similar. "
This is more related to NW official forum and other NW fan sites - only towards people who are not saying that Anette is super sweet and best singer in the whole white world or that NW is always great. People who do not agree there are labeled as "left wing nut" or worse. So, if you do not like it here, where not everybody are NW's and Anette's blind fans or not always happy about things they do, then go to NW official forum or NW fan sites and hang out there, you will be surrounded with people who adore them and won't say a word against them.Nobody will bother you or upset you. Something keeps you here, on this site? I guess not.
"1. I have said in another thread that I have admired certain things about Anette"
Yeah, yeah, this woman joined famous, very famous band for good money, quick fame and quick career, without even knowing about or listening to band (or without listening to and liking metal at all) before some friend of hers suggested to go for audition. Nothing really special, nothing heroic, very pragmatic really. There are lots of women who are frontwomen in metal and rock bands, they are doing it for years, they started from very beginning, but strangely nobody shouts around the Internet that they are heroines, and here Olzon is already a brave heroin, deserving a medal!
"Anette is human. Period. Tuomas is human. Period. I don't expect celebrities to be anything other than human. If you do, perhaps you need to rethink your expectations, otherwise you're always going to be disappointed. "
Really? You know that woman, called Tarja Turunen? She is also a human. For somebody, at least, lol Period. But some people made a diva out of her (not on some online board, but in public, through media) who seemed to do everything wrong, her actions were presented not as human mistakes, but as some horrible deeds, for which she should be called "diva" and should be kicked out without even telling it all in her face! See, she even didn't deserve to be told in person what a greedy diva she was. Lol. She wasn't treated like "human" at all.
"9. I really, really hate cyber bullying, which is what all this bashing, name calling, denigrating"
There was open letter bullying with public bashing, name calling, denigrating. You know, many people hate that. But it was. And it will be remembered.
Lyset wrote on 19.09.2009 at 21:51
Lyset, very good comment.I agree with everything...
And CanuckFan,these "expectations" you are talking about are the ones that Tuomas set for their new singer.Their new singer should always give autographs and smile and take pics with fans,no matter how tired she feels.
He said that,he EMPHASIZED that, and especially as an opposite to their previous singer.
I really don't understand why should someone "admire" Anette.
One friend told her about the audition, she seized the opportunity to get money and become famous, gave no real effort since she instantly had a fan base from the day she was announced as the singer, without an album out or a tour, she gave up nothing.
Only her son.
And she shouldn't be admired for leaving her son to chase a career.
Anette is human period?
Tarja is one too.
But no NW fan seemed to think about that after 2005.
Actually now,Anette can get away with anything, but Tarja will be accused even if she sneezes.
And i don't care about cuber bullying. It's the actual bullying and name calling out there that concerns me.

I'm really waiting for the day when Olzon stops performing old songs which she can't handle and will perform only songs which suits her and are more simple vocally.Cause her performace of old song is still quite low.

In her blog Anette wrote that she had an 'Ice queen' make up yesterday...this reminds me of someone...I wonder of who...Well,a lot of her actions do this.
But she does look a lil bit gothic, doesn't she?
Enkeli wrote on 20.09.2009 at 17:05
Enkeli, really, an Ice Queen make-up? Lol. She copies now both Turunen and Sharond den Adel from WT!
Seriously, there is nothing gothic about her, sorry :)
And I agree about Walking in the Air, not good.
Lyset wrote on 20.09.2009 at 18:31
I actually think Anette's version of WITA was decent. Obviously it was arranged to fit her voice, and they had shortened it, because she would never have been able to sing the ending the way Tarja did. But all in all, it sounded ok. The stage looks very small though, is it really Hartwall?
Still, I wish Anette the best with her solo album, and I hope NW finds another singer for the next album.
itneverstops wrote on 20.09.2009 at 19:12
yeah, sometimes Olzon is Ok, sometimes not, but, at the end, who wants to listen to "Ok music" !????
TT wrote on 20.09.2009 at 20:37
I didn't like WITA at all ,cause they shortened the song, changed it to some mediocre ballad with nothing special in it. I hate when good songs are treated like that!
I also wish NW to find new singer, with good and powerful voice and with taste, and without progressing star sickness.
Max wrote on 20.09.2009 at 20:49
I agree with you Max, that was a kind of emo version of WITA...
TT wrote on 21.09.2009 at 02:07
Ew, what have they done to Walking in the air, it sounds now like Eva-clone song! :( Can't they leave good songs in peace, if they wanted some common ballad they could perform Eva instead of it.

Legeon,
you are SO LUCKY. Not that you have a boyfriend, even here Warthchild and Riddler do fight for you...
I, on the other hand, broke up with my polar bear, my dog goes everyday to the pub and comes back in 2 hours or even later,
- not to mention that Riddler refused me -
even Phantom who paid me attention for such a long time,
completely lost his feelings for me...
Oh, oh, poor me, poor me. I definitely should check out some of the toys we discussed with Riddler, because by the look if it -
this is going to be a long, cold and nasty winter...
But as for what you should do, Legeon,
my position on this matter is clear.
After all I am a teacher of physical sciences, which means that I like to experiment
and I did teach in Christian school, which means that I like to experiment on people..
- so go ahead, test them both (Wrathchild and Riddler) and you will see.
And do not hesiate to let me know whether those "hours of love-making" Riddler advertised here
meant that he can make it up to 15 minutes (pizza incl.)
or not.

Yes, when you attracted my attention to that I spot the detail..
Ancientmuse,
Phantom is reffering here to discussion we had in Silver waters. I expressed my opinion that based on some parameters I believe that Maestro does not hide a HUGE surprise in non-vibrating part of his pants,
but a small one...
If you check that picture, you could see know, what Phantom was talking about -
though, I can only see that Maestro is a boy
and I never call him a girl - so, what is the point?
The partially interesting thing is who of his bandmates made him so agitated...
BUT THE REALLY interesting thing is this:
Phantom, who keeps telling us that he is 25 years old spanish boy, of completely male persuassion (straight) was clearly checking above mentioned parts of Maestro´s pants.
So, Phantom, what attracted your completely male and straight eyes to that place? What have YOU been looking for?
- that is what I would like to know.. :-P
mermaid wrote on 21.09.2009 at 10:16
Mermaid: what the hell are you talking about?
Hahaha, do you really think there was actually something worth noticing in that random pic! LOL , I was making fun of you because you people said that pic is totally irrelevant .
I was just playing you fool a little bit.
But I KNEW Mermaid would have been interested in "pants" in general , LOL.
There is no detail.
Phantom wrote on 21.09.2009 at 15:39
Phantom,
interesting thing is that I was not. It was you who came with Maestro´s pants...
And because you say you are completely straight 25 years old spanish boy the question remains - how come that you are checking on Maestro´s little Maestro?

Phantom wrote on 21.09.2009 at 15:55

It's fun that you spend some seconds looking at non-existing details :D

She told the magazine about the first time the band heard her sing, the time the band went to an opera by Wagner and got bored by it, and revealed that Once is her favorite NW album and that LISTENING TO OCEANBORN TERRIFIES HER. "
Not only she spoke about her music with NW but also about her memories from it!? Of course she would speak about that. Tarja proves with every blog entry and with every interview that it's music that matters! Memories of music INCLUDED! Personal matters EXCLUDED! Soooo unlike Nightwish. Music (& memories of it) excluded. Personal matters icluded. And then NW fans lecture us Tarja fans that "it's music that matters".
Legeon said: "You are saying that Tarja spoke about her PAST in NW. She has said nothing about them now, their new singer, and especially nothing bad,but they still DO speak bad of her. And they can choose NOT to say those things.
Actually the point was about NW behavior now, which is miles away from "what matters most is music". "

Ancient Muse: So Anette does have a nightwish, in fact many of them. All related to brand-name products. Now doesn't she fit the band perfectly! :-)
Legeon: We've got a discussion about the Rammstein video already. Come join us at the forum!
I, too, have noticed how American fans tend to be totally into Nightwish as they are now. Even some people associated with ProgPower USA whom you'd expect to be more mature I've seen behaving in a way that is no different really from your random teenage fangirl. It's embarrassing. :-/ Tarja could make the best music of the universe and still those people wouldn't want her at PPUSA. They tend to be really hostile towards Tarja and say nasty things about her, don't care for her solo career, adore Tuomas and Anette, are totally into Within Temptation, are indifferent to less commercial (but more sophisticated) female-fronted bands such as Edenbridge or Amberian Dawn ("sounds like Rhapsody if they had Tarja on vocals" - duh, that would be epic!), and they say that you can't really make symphonic metal with a low budget, i. e., without a swanky orchestra and loads of expensive guest musicians.
So apparently, to them Oceanborn and Wishmaster are mainly good because of Tuomas, but Once and DPP are so much better. Yeah, right. Who cares about guitars, powerful lead vocals or drums, only keys and fancy orchestrations, keys and catchy melodies are important. That's exactly the attitude giving symphonic metal a bad name.
The sad fact is that NW have given their European and South American fanbase a big FUCK YOU sign and swapped them for a new fanbase that is easier to exploit. No wonder that they treat their US fans well. While greedy diva pampers her Finnish and Argentinian fans, not those from the really lucrative markets such as USA, Japan or even Germany.
Jeremy: I don't really get your points either. For example you said "Let's forget for the moment that the press didn't ask NW about her." Is that supposed to be a defence of NW? It can't, for it's exactly what we've been criticising! Or eben WORSE actually!
It's tiring how so many people cannot tell the difference between stylistic changes and "going commercial", because that involves reliably only exactly one direction, namely the current trend. Nightwish have started to lose their distinctiveness and originality a long time ago, as early as Century Child and in part already Wishmaster. Only Oceanborn is pleasantly free from clichés, and that's why it's generally considered to be their best work.
As far as I know, MPG is never played live, because Tuomas said he doesn't feel like he did when he wrote the song and felt sorry for it. But perhaps they've changed their mind and feel that denigration and Marcelo bashing is OK again?
Nightwish is really becoming Studiowish, instead of the band that was even better live than on CD, while even Studioforce have realised that the audiences are always more enthusiastic for the support bands and pulled together, stopped the booze and tried to become a real live band.
Jon: Unfortunately, NW has not been about metal for a long time ...
Dan: You forgot that Anette is supposed to speak English perfectly. Not did you get the problem with the solo album.
CanuckFan: Just to address one point about Anette, there's a difference between being a strong personality and egoism. I find nothing admirable in egoism.
Another thing, I've noticed how again and again there are comments from people unrelated with the eeevil Demolition Crew and they are totally in the same spirit.
WatchforY: 12,000 people? Sure? Or are you quoting some press release?
Now the same text has been posted under the other article as a comment by a certain "Charlie". LOL. So I was right that there is something fishy.
Nevermind that MFF itself talks about 11,000 people only. There may be reasons why the capacity has been reduced from a larger theoretical capacity for concerts.
MissyE: The only thing missing from instrumental Apocalyptica songs is the vocals. Apparently you are American and got to know Apocalyptica only late in their career, because I'd like to remember you that they started out as an entirely instrumental band and that was one thing that made them even more fascinating. Unfortunately instrumental music does not sell as well as music with vocals.

@Almagest
You did a very good job with your previous comment,i would only like to add some thoughts:
"they say that you can't really make symphonic metal with a low budget, i. e., without a swanky orchestra and loads of expensive guest musicians."
Year right...That's why the very FIRST symphonic metal album, the one that is still, until today, considered the BEST symphonic metal album(and i agree),Theli from Therion, was a low-budget album with only a couple of extra voices and a small orchestra.
In symphonic metal, there are three elements that make it symphonic:
orchestral parts
classical voices
classically-oriented compositions.
NW rely only on orchestras now.So NW fans are saying that you need a big expensive orchestra and that's it,you've got yourself a great album?
What made Therion great(and still does) are compositions and performances. And originality,of course.
I admit that NW have catchy melodies(the kind that catch teenage US minds-i am not saying that US fans are all like that, but most of them are),but they have never composed any masterpiece like Via Nocturna,The Siren Of The Woods, Lemuria, Clavicula Nox, Wine Of Aluqah, Sirius B,Call Of Dagon...I can go on forever.
You see,Tuomas only composes some melodies, then Pip makes all the orchestrations and the orchestral parts, and voila:
Tuomas is the Maestro.
But Christofer, who composes his own songs AND orchestral parts, and is considered by many classical music fans to be the successor of Wagner,is nothing.
At least not in US.
Legeon wrote on 21.09.2009 at 22:49

But, let me clarify two things:
I was not jealous on Phantom for having an interest for Maestro´s little Maestro.
When I said he lost his feeling for me, I was reffering to his flirting with TT (on forum) with NO END.
His not very straight interest in non vibrating part of Maestro´s pants was just a benefit.
As for me, being Spanish... well, I am not. But it is Phantom, who says he is castellano, so, you two guys could certainly have a nice talk... Anyway, Spanish IS easy, so at least I will be able to join you, too. :-P

I think he has. Remember Tarja saying that back in NW she used to receive a lot of invitations from other metal bands to sing for them. She said those invitations were coming like rain on some days. And she said that she refused them all. I'm 100% sure she refused Christofer Johnson too. ;-)
TheSeer wrote on 23.09.2009 at 14:09
@Almagest
I don't know what Christofer said about Tarja and Marcelo,to be honest...
But i am not going to hate him and bash him because of his words, like any average fanatic follower.(that was for NW fans)
But we should not forget some things. For example,Christofer has never really messed with the media and created scandals or fuss.
Also, something for the fan base,an example:
Christopher says, for example, something bad about Anette's vocal abilities or behavior.Nothing happens to Anette, but a whole horde of angry Anette fans start a crusade against Christofer.
Imagine now that Tuomas says something bad about Lori's vocal abilities or behavior.
Poor Lori. Her career is dead, every NW fan will hate her(because their GOD doesn't like her) and will bash her on everywhere the NET.
And of course,no angry fan to defend her, only a few logical Therion fans whose mind cannot win NW fans' stupidity.
Legeon wrote on 23.09.2009 at 15:46

Isabell wrote on 24.09.2009 at 14:04

I think he said the very opposite. He said that in his opinion Anette fitted better in NW and that Tarja was a mediocre classical singer who couldn't handle most of Therion songs properly. I believe hurt ego was behind those words as Tarja had probably refused his invitation for colaboration.
TheSeer wrote on 24.09.2009 at 14:14
@Isabell
There's no such thing.I think i made perfectly clear that it was an example.
Legeon wrote on 24.09.2009 at 14:38
@TheSeer
As i said to Isabell,it was an example,he hasn't said things like that.(that's why i used the words "as an example".)
To be honest TheSeer,Christofer has worked with MUCH more talented and specialized in classical and operatic music sopranos.
Martina Astner, Hannah Holgersson,Karin Fjellander,Katarina Lilja, Lori Lewis...
And yes,no matter how much i love Tarja,i don't think she can handle Therion songs.
BUT it is true that it was his ego talking, because he has no excuse of saying these things in public.
Legeon wrote on 24.09.2009 at 14:56
"I think he said the very opposite. He said that in his opinion Anette fitted better in NW and that Tarja was a mediocre classical singer "
Interesting logic, if Diva is a mediocre classical singer (and btw, I do not think that she is great classical singer either), then Princess who is mediocre pop-rock singer fits better in NW-why? LOL And I do not think that Princess could handle Therion songs either, just imagine her doing that :)
Phantom, mate I'm sorry but it was you who said that Maestro listened to Diva's album, wasn't it? Where did you know it from? And what opinion he expressed about this album? I'm asking seriously now, cause I didn't see this info anywhere before.
The Riddler wrote on 24.09.2009 at 16:55
Well, I think Christofer should just invite his fellow countrywoman Anette for the next Therion album, since she provides SO MUCH MORE emotions and everything.
I don't know how good Tarja is as a classical singer really, or whether she could handle Therion songs, because we have no basis to judge and compare, we almost never hear her full voice live in the proper environment; except in Noche Escandinava, she has always sung with microphone. But she is so much more than a mere classical soprano, her voice conveys SO MUCH MORE em... oops, sorry, bad word.
Almagest wrote on 25.09.2009 at 00:00
I meant: she's so much more than a typical classical soprano, she's really a Fach of her own. She can enchant us. :-)
Almagest wrote on 25.09.2009 at 00:14
BTW, seriously, I wonder how to gauge Tarja's talent. So I'm not an expert, but are you guys? I don't know, but the fact is that Tarja is NOT specialised and doesn't concentrate on classical music. So how can you tell?
Almagest wrote on 25.09.2009 at 00:28
