Finnish/Swedish symphonic metallers NIGHTWISH played a special homecoming show last night (Saturday, September 19) at the sold-out, 11,000-capacity Hartwall Arena in Helsinki to mark the end of the band's colossal "Dark Passion Play" world tour. Support at the gig came from APOCALYPTICA.

NIGHTWISH's setlist was as follows:

03. Ever Dream
04. Wishmaster

06. Amaranth
07. The Siren (w/ Finnish violinist Pekka Kuusisto)
08. While Your Lips Are Still Red (w/ Finnish violinist Pekka Kuusisto)
09. Poet And The Pendulum
10. Nemo
11. Sahara
12. Dark Chest Of Wonders

Fan-filmed video footage of the concert's final song can be viewed below.

NIGHTWISH is not expected to play any more shows until the release of the band's next studio album, which will arrive in 2011.

NIGHTWISH's previous concert at the Hartwall Arena in October 2005 was recorded and released as the highly successful "End Of An Era" DVD.

"Made In Hong Kong (And In Various Other Places)", the most recent CD/DVD from NIGHTWISH, entered the German Media Control chart at position No. 15. It also opened at No. 2 in Finland and dropped down to No. 5 in its second week of release.

Released on March 13 via Nuclear Blast Records, "Made In Hong Kong (And In Various Other Places)" contains a DVD documentary (with a running time of approximately 45 minutes) of NIGHTWISH's world tour in support of the band's latest album, "Dark Passion Play", as well as a CD featuring live recordings from the trek. The documentary footage was directed by Ville Lipiäinen.

  1. And then people say that she has more energy and she's more vivid on stage than "Ice Queen" Tarja...

Yes,walking up and down the stage while singing is SOOOOOOO metal and energetic...
Especially in the Poet, she was just sitting in ONE place.
If i recollect,Tarja was never THAT stiff.

  2. Ahhhh... 2:39 - and that's all I'm saying about that.

It looks like, from what I've seen on YT, a rockin' concert, though! Once again, I lament living in Canada because I am so far away from all the good gigs!

  3. Someone made a comment on another thread about the size of the stage. I also wonder why it was so small...?

  4. 2011?!?!?!?!?!?! D:
    too long :(

  5. I know this is the last song played, but well, quite horrible performance..... Anette's talent is to hide her weaknesses with catchy coarse vocals tricks....

TT wrote on 20.09.2009 at 23:39

  6. Nothing special, only she spoiled another good old song. It is now like some pop ballad, boring and all.

  7. Anette looks bad in that short bag on her :(

Sarah wrote on 21.09.2009 at 00:15

  8. legeon, I agree with you completely! :)

Well, I never really liked the song at all, but this version is even worse...
"dark thoughts...oh yes they do, uh...." what's that?!

Earwen wrote on 21.09.2009 at 00:17

  9. Legeon , I do not know where did this myth about Princess having more energy and being more vivid on stage come from as well!
Well, I saw her doing some strange dancing around once, but I can't say that it was very vivid, seemed like she was electroshocked. In other cases she was just walking from one side to another side of stage or sit, nothing more. And no headbanging at all.
If you want more vivid performances, check singers like Sharon den Adel or Simone Simons. They DO have vivd performances.

  10. Lol, WIHAA is not as hard vocally as other old songs but she still sounds weak even in this one!

Gerry wrote on 21.09.2009 at 00:24

  11. people were leaving towards the end and the stage looked far from sold-out. Someone's been lying about it. Plus, I don't think I will ever accept Anette in NW, she doesn't have a clue about metal..

zina wrote on 21.09.2009 at 00:36

  12. Anette sings not only with a terrible voice, but also with no heart, Tarja was the exact opposite and did give NW a soul...

TT wrote on 21.09.2009 at 01:10

  13. I get such a kick out of people who diss Nightwish and Anette. I've seen them 4 times on this tour in 3 countries. Met the band on several occasions. Anette is a real sweetheart in person, and the guys well they are a blast. But lest any of you forget history, it was the Ice Queen herself that wanted out of Nightwish. So what were the boys to do, just quit, give up. No I think not. Their music lives, breathes and still thrives. Tuomas is and always has been the music of Nightwish, not the Ice Queen or the Sweetheart who sings with them now. Anette had a chance to join the best band in the world and she took it. Bravo. Good for her, she is not better than Tarja, just different. Nightwish still rocks. Those that don't dig it, too bad, maybe Lady GaGa is your bag.

Jacomo wrote on 21.09.2009 at 01:40

  14. I agree with every comment posted before who said that Anette's performance sucks. Thank God there's Marco to save some of the lyrics.

A lot of people want a dvd of this concert. Well, I would love it if there would come a dvd of this called: End of an Era Part II..

  15. I didn't think the clip was that bad, or what I watched of it.
I Nightwish were pretty average live without pyrotechnics. Now that they've got them it's like...they're good but for the wrong reasons....Now, I never saw them back in the day (without mentioning the dreaded T word) but...has the magic gone a bit now? I have nothing against Anette, but I think Nightwish have been twisted somewhat. They aren't the same band anymore. Has the success of DPP gone to their heads or something? :-/

Apocalyptigasm wrote on 21.09.2009 at 02:32

  16. An awesome gig and ending for this 2 years period.Tuomas and the members of the band have a big challenge for the next album because DPP album is great and they spent so much money and time to make that album.I hope all the best for them and I hope we (who like the band) will hear one masterpiece more!

Jimmie wrote on 21.09.2009 at 02:52

  17. Omg ,Anette ruined another of my favorite songs ,Walking In The Air...and the clothes she wore too, just horrible.. she needs help from a good fashion designer and not from any magazine she sees and thinks that those clothes are going to look good on her. :(

  20. oh,yes,they do.OOOOOOH!
WTF?that was so cheesy!!!!Looks like she's about to die on the stage.Lifeless creature all I can say.She looks completely bored, makes an impression that she's doing everyone a favour singing there.I don't care if it's the end of the show, its beginning or whatever,it's very unprofessional and disrespectful to act like that on an arena that big with that many fans. I saw Doro Pesch performing on a small arena in NYC a couple of weeks ago and she gave us 100% of her love and energy.I will never forget that concert. And as we all know Doro is not a twenty-year-old girl, but still she was so ENERGETIC! I don't even want to compare Tarja's concerts with what i've just seen! I'm so happy that their concert in nyc was canceled when THE princess got sick.Yes,i was reckless enough to buy a ticket at that time. And i can't believe that in that video I just saw THE BAND that I adored for such a long time. And it's not even about Anette (we have to agree that not everyone realizes where his or her place is,she's just a wanabe, nothing more),it's about the rest of them putting up with her behaviour, her hideous outfits, her lack of talent. No matter how talented each one of them might be ( i mean the boys),but now they just make me think that all they do is about money, about profit. The only thing i have to add is thank you Mr Holopeinen and co for giving Tarja wings so that she would spread them wide!I'm sure that she will never disapoint me.
    RIP Nightwish.
    Sincerely,
Mila, who would never be your fan again :(((

  22. Honestly, that was the worst performace of WIHAA I've ever seen, and one of the worst live performances of a band I have ever seen too! Anette was barely in key and Marco did not even have the aggression like he usually does. The others did okay, but the vocals was what really sucked on this one! As far as Anette goes, that outfit is just awful!! Damn, get a better outfit because you look like some pop bitch like Britney Spears or Ashlee Simpson! I seriously don't know how anybody could think that was a good performance! It seems that they all don't give a shit about the fans or anything that values music anymore. They turned into a big has-been. I honestly think I've given up on one of my favorite bands. This is just so disgusting and awful! Words can't describe how much I am mad at you Tuomas for what you did to this once great band. I agree with Milka, R.I.P. Nightwish. :(

hellraiser wrote on 21.09.2009 at 08:28

  23. I just love these established labels: "Ice Queen" and "Sweatheart", it is just demonstration of how the letter affects some unsecured fan minds.
Specially, that Anette even uses "Ice Queen make-up" now as she calls it herself and consider all the things she managed to do in just two years in the band, she now acts like self-proclaimed queen.
About the concert, you know it was nothing special as some people said it here already, it was just average, just a concert, at some points even boring, but indeed there wasn't magic or something special in it, just a gig. And people indeed started to leave before gig was even over.

Silva wrote on 21.09.2009 at 09:04

  26. What a great concert! Sold out Hartwall Areena (12 000 people) celebrating, shouting, making waves and screaming :). There was a guest star, a famous finnish violinist Pekka Kuusisto plying in 2 songs and Troy Donockley was playing as well.

Charlie wrote on 21.09.2009 at 09:34

  27. Well I was at the show and it was just awesome!!!
The guys ruled and "Princess" owned the songs.

After Apo finishing set, most of the people came in the arena.
    Two thumbs up!!

  28. I like Apocalyptica a lot but somehow I feel that there is something missing when there is not a vocalist. There was a guest vocalist for 2 songs, singer in Finnish metal band Stam1na and those songs I liked the best.

But back to Nightwish; I liked the concert a lot too!! Last time I saw Nightwish in summer 2008 in Pre-Tuska festival and this was definetely a better concert. Marco seemed to be truly moved when he was looking at the waves and thank you Nightwish -screams. Tuomas looked like he was (almost) crying too.

Both guests were a plus, also the "rain-wall" looked amazing. I think everyone was surprised to hear Walking in the Air, it was so beautiful!

MissyE wrote on 21.09.2009 at 09:46

  29. I'm afraid Olzon really did not make a good job on the songs live, and her outfit was yacky.
I think that without pyrotechnics nothing covers her performance, that's why it was more disappointing when I expected.
Overall a gig was more plain when people thought it would be, my friends were not impressed either.

    7Days wrote on 21.09.2009 at 09:51

  30. Walking in the Air was ruined, turned to some whiny poppy ballad.
And I also notice that people were leaving without waiting till the end of the concert. Strange.

Maybe the concert was not so big deal for you!Everybody can feel an think about concert what ever they want but it's only own opinion.Few people start to leave just before the ending but it's normal because many people want to avoid the traffic jam.

To me that concert was fantastic and I enjoy every minute of that!Nightwish.... see you again!

  32. Jesus, she can't even perform WIHAA right, and there is Marco to sing in this song, still it turns into a mess, the rest also was weak, I'm really surprised she sang so weak live. Too bad. My girlfriend also didn't get it why she turned some songs into some kind of howling :(

Jo wrote on 21.09.2009 at 10:00

  33. The capacity of Hartwall Arena is 11 000 people, so STOP lying about 12 000 crowd. You are pathetic, lol. I was there, but either they lied about sold-out thing or people left too early, cause I spotted "empty spaces". And people were leaving in the middles and closer to the end as well.

Finman wrote on 21.09.2009 at 10:04

  34. 7Days - if you actually had been at the concert in real world instead of your imaginery one you would have noticed that Anette Olzon had 3 different outfits during the gig :). Which one you disliked the most???? :)

So what's up next for the band - HOLIDAY (and work)
Tuomas will go sailing in the Mediterranean and travelling in Australia and writing new songs of course. Emppu will be working with Brother Firetrible. Marco will be working with his band Tarot and Heavy Christmas -tour (I don't actually know in how many gigs he will be singing, in Helsinki at least). Anette will work with her solo album.

If I remember one article correctly, they will start doing their next album in summer 2010 and will come out in fall 2011.

Local Girl wrote on 21.09.2009 at 10:06

What are you going to do next when Nightwish is on a break?? Are you still coming here daily to bash the band?

I really hope you will be attending as many Tarja's concert as possible and have one actually constructive and meaningful hobby for a change :).

Waiting for your many many concert reviews! :)

Cause it is crappy pop and Anette likes crappy pop, she even sometimes sounds and looks like that GaGa, I'm really afraid that she soon will end up like this: http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2009/09/14/article-1213289-066B4702000005DC-934_468x707.jpg

What a wonderful morning! And I am on vacation;=) Tjohoo!!

    Yesterday was incredible!!! Amazing...marvellous....heavenly...and joyful:=)

The gig went totally perfect and I am so proud of us all, everyone did their part superb and splendid and with such feeling. We also did Walking in the air and Meadows of heaven for the first time and it was just amazing;=)

    The setlist was:
    Intro finlandia with Troy
    7 days to the wolves
    Ever dream
    Wishmaster
    Romanticide
    Amaranth
    The Siren with Pekka
While your lips are still red with Pekka
    Poet and the Pendulum
    Nemo
    Sahara
    Dark chest of wonders
    The Islander
Walking in the air with Troy
Last of the wilds with Troy
    Meadows of Heaven
    Ghost love score
I wish I had an angel

    Here are some rehearsal photos;
I had three outfits yesterday. First a leather/wool skirt from Dsquared, black top and leggings from Morticia and thigh high boots from Zara. Then I changed to the black long dress I wore in the Islander video and ended with a dress in cashmere/leather from Rick Owens and boots from Christian Louboutin. I only have photo of the first outfit but I am sure the internet soon has on the other two too;=)
My make-up and hair was done by Marja, who helps me when I need a better make-up and she has done it many times for me and she is amazing;=)Yesterday I wanted a bit of an ice queen make-up;=)

I DO remember that Olzon said she WOULDN'T change dresses during one gig, and everybody was screaming with joy, praising her for acting so down-to-earth. And now she also changed dresses, LOL. And did "ice queen make-up" ! Really, is she doing it on purpose or just because she is SO down-to-earth?

Fiona wrote on 21.09.2009 at 11:56

  46. Gosh, Anette's unnatural overjoyness is so unnatural :( And she again advertises clothes brands, she is obsessed, didn't know that blog of singer from metal band=billboard for clothes.
And about sold-out, no kidding? Many people who were there questioned that.

Clementine wrote on 21.09.2009 at 12:09

  47. Very good point Fiona!!! I am also VERY interested to know how do certain people fill up their days when Nightwish is on holiday and there are no news/articles to bash? Pls tell us??

Well, I have one guess though..... Anette-haters go and check her blog every day and make comments based on that. It must be so much fun reading a blog of a person you can't stand day after day.... I don't know what is wrong with me when I don't have time and effort to read everything there is to read about let's say Tom Cruise who I cannot stand......

Local Girl wrote on 21.09.2009 at 12:10

  49. For Finman - stop lying about what?????

Pls check capacity for Hartwall Areena from their official pages: http:// www. hartwall-areena.com/fi/index.php?id=5
    Katsojapaikat tapahtumissa
    Amfiteatteri: 3 000-5 000
    Jääkiekko: 13 349
    Konsertit: 12 -15 000

For concerts it is between 12 000 - 15 000 depending on the size and location of the stage.

  50. Sorry, meant to say "good point Susie", she was the one making a very interesting question!

Local Girl wrote on 21.09.2009 at 12:20

  51. Local Girl, since Anette's fans are running around wild drooling over every single thing Olzon bought, ate, said or wrote in her blog, trying to put down other metal female singers a lot in favour of their beloved Anette, it is really helpful to laugh at that puffed-up celebrity attitude which Olzon developed.

Sissel wrote on 21.09.2009 at 12:22

  52. FactMan, read the news here better, it says 11 000, read as well those blog posts by their singer ,she also wrote about 11 000. And you forgot about the size of the stage, dude. The 12 000 come only from your imagination, people.

Finman wrote on 21.09.2009 at 12:29

  53. I must have missed something.... Everytime I have seen someone here copying text from Anette Olzon's blog it has been one of the people who cannot stand her.... So who is drooling over what? And who is actually advertising her blog most? Nightwish fans tend to write much more on their official site, why would they want to spend too much time here with Tuomas and Anette haters?

I came here to ask a question what is in my first post: what are Nightwish -haters (or Tuomas/Anette -haters) plans to fill up their days when Nightwish is on holiday and out of the public eye??? It would actually be interesting to know.

And I would like at least someone to answer and tell us how many concerts of Tarja he/she will be attending (tour just started). Like I said, hopefully as many as possible so that these persons would actually have a nice hobby :).

Susie wrote on 21.09.2009 at 12:36

  54. WITA sounds very similar to Celtic Woman's version. Hartwall is just too big for NW, they won't fill it out even if they invite thair families on gig;p What about Anette nothing special as we already had time to get used, nothing higher, nothing lower, some screaming from time to time.

Isabell wrote on 21.09.2009 at 12:44

  55. @Sissel

    You know what's very interesting?
Anette fans always trying to psychoanalyze us and to prove that we have such messed up personalities or boring lives in order to laugh on Anette.

BUT there was NO problem and no one was psychoanalyzing NW fans when they repeatedly bashed Tarja, and were searching frantically for videos and interviews to find evidence about her greediness.

I must have said it about a hundred of times, but i'll say this again:

Anette fans:you must be wondering what makes us feel that we're in better position and that we have the right to criticize Anette when we don't accept your bashing for Tarja.
    Well,here's why:
We judge Anette based on what she does/says/sings.
YOU have been attacking Tarja because of what was written in a letter.
    WE judge by facts.

Legeon wrote on 21.09.2009 at 12:46

  56. @Susie

We don't worry about that.Anette provides us about 5 posts per day to talk about.

Oh,and we have pretty damn good hobbies. For example,i like reading books, rowing, annoying anyone around me telling them about my trip to USA next month, studying for my University...
Oh,and a daily treat of entertainment from Anette.

Seeing Tarja(or ANY aritst) live is a "hobby"?
You might need to check out the definition of "hobby".

But yes,Tarja is coming, and i'm going to see her with my father-in-law.
The same guy(50 years old)with whom we saw NW with Anette last year and ever since,he said that he doesn't want to hear her again in his life.
That makes him a Tarja taliban right?Or a "mean and jealous person",as Anette called people that don't like her.

Legeon wrote on 21.09.2009 at 12:53

  57. Yes, it was a lousy concert? There were hardly anyone in the crowd. I would say it was about 200 persons, about the same as in Tarja Turunen?s concert in Stockholm. And of those 200 people at least 100 left before the concert ended, disappointed and unhappy.

So basically in the end there were only Tuomas? family and friends in the audience, no one else. It was a very sad event.

Nightwish are also doing very bad commercially. Tuomas is making so little money that he has to sell his new house in Kitee. He has also cancelled his sailing trips and flight tickets to Australia because he is completely broke. He is really sad and unhappy and rumours say he cannot make any music as he is so depressed. I heard that he also admitted that his music is such a crap he cannot compose anything anymore.

After he heard Tarja Turunen?s masterpiece ?Ciaran?s Well? Tuomas lost his spirit completely as he knew in no way could he compose anything so beautiful and overwhelming.

So as the end has arrived we all can scream hallelujah ? it is over for good now?..

  58. Susie, Anette's fans do it not only on official sites and fan sites, the problem is they go to different general metal boards, communities, lastfm accounts, etc, and try to drool over her and her blog over there, trying to transform general metal boards into some fan sites of Anette. And after all those insults from Anette's fans towards such singers as Floor, Sabine, Anneke and other great female singers, it is really helpful that Anette's cult which was created and supported a lot by Olzon herself is being laughed at. She is overrated and she overrates herself.
And I do not know anything about Tarja concerts, I'm not her fan.

You forgot to mention that some of NW concerts were not sold out at all, people were leaving in the middle of the concerts, recieved bad reviews, and also you skipped the fact that crappy pop artists like Britney has huge sales and even monkies on the island heard her name cause she is PRed a lot, but that doesn make her a really good singer with good music.
And you are right, that awful diva Turunen is brrrr, once she had sold-out concert in 5000 arena in Bulgaria as solo.Brrr.

BTW, my sister traveled to that Hartwall gig on 19th of September, you know she is not very impressed by the gig and she is a fan of NW.

Anyway, we are heading to a high season, which means that I will have more work then in previous months...

And Cristmass is coming soon, there will be friends and family to check on, gifts to be bought..

i do not see problem with my time to be spent - I am quite concerned for you, who were coming here daily to bash the Demolition crew, to suggest us to get a life, to check our psychologists..

WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?

Without us, DC, what will be the main point of your days?

(Well, I am not REALLY concerned..)

And as for concerts - why should I go to see ANY Tarja´s concert? I did not attend ANY new NW concert, either...

I deffinitely do not have time to do this, sorry. And as far as I am not Tarja´s fan, nobody here will be really surprised...

Why do you guys have to point out every little difference with Miss Turunen. Nightwish with her have been great, I don't think they will ever top themselves. But if they keep doing quality shows like this one , I think they will be just fine with Anette too. I don't like them so much anymore but they don't seem that dead yet. ;)

I.took.a.step.out.side. an.innocent.hAaAaArt." " fall when I May-AY-hay." Bleh! I guess she does it to mask the fact that she really can't sustain a note for long or perhaps she's out of breath or maybe she just sucks or all of the above???

I really can't believe NW will do another album with her! I think they're only doing it to save face. They fired their first singer, they can't do it a second time or they'll look like bigger assholes than they already are. Here's hoping Anette's solo career and those Jessica Simpson songs she'll be "belting" will take off so she'll get the hell out of this band.

Yes,she has been doing this since she joined,it's EXTREMELY annoying. It's like saying a big proud "fuck you" to the fans that loved these songs the way they were written.

But i've heard many interesting(=funny) explanations for that from her fans:
    1)"It's her technique,called belting".
Yeah right.Actually every singer that doesn't sing in a classical way(head voice) is belting. So that means that almost EVERY metal or whatever singer should sound like this.
    Guess what,they don't.
2)"It's her OWN PERSONAL style, and we adore it".
Actually it's not her own style, but the style of every mediocre singer that can't sustain a note as long as it's supposed to.
3)"Most old songs are very difficult for her, because they were written for another singing style".
Actually she does that even to the songs that are sung on the album by her(DPP songs).

  103. Jacomo: I get a kick out of people who diss Nightwish and Anette, too, because they've often got quite interesting points and a great sense of humour (seriously, not ironically), unlike Anette/new-NW fans.

Also, who is Ice Queen? If you mean Tarja, she's always considered her stay with the band only temporary, after all SHE WAS INVITED BY TUOMAS to sing for them. And actually, Tuomas had announced that NW were to break up if she leaves, since obviously he used to think that Tarja is an indispensable part of Nightwish, too. Wonder what made him rethink this decision? Perhaps a greedy manager? :D

"Nightwish still rocks. Those that don't dig it, too bad, maybe Lady GaGa is your bag."

Whow, you just gotta love the Nightwish fans' openmindedness and acceptance of criticism. I've never heard Tarja fans bash people who don't like her voice or her music like that. Or those of most other bands. (Except when people make themselves look seriously stupid by giving ridiculous reasons for bashing some artist.)

Anyway, at the same time I saw Tarja at EFF and personally witnessed what a group of talented, creative, hard-working and enthusiastic musicians with a professional attitude can do. THAT was what I call a great show.

  113. In fact, as has been pointed out repeatedly, Tuomas has gone to great lengths to explain that Tarja's voice was the crucial inspiration for the sound of Nightwish as we know it - bombastic metal, not quiet, folky mood music. Sometime in 2004 or 2005 he changed his mind and suddenly Nightwish was only his creation, his, his, his alone.

Yet another act of defiance because he couldn't get what he wanted? Because he couldn't get his ultimate nightwish fulfilled?

  114. Almagest, I don't know. Strange that he indeed talked a lot about Tarja's influence on NW's music until 2005, but after that...as if he never said it before. Weird.
WIHAA sounds horrible, it is a easy song, easier than other old songs, and she still sounds not right on it :(

  116. It's sad to see that such a great band has caused many writers here so much pain. However, what was done about four years ago HAD to be done. You know, if greed and conceit go over art, what else could be done? I'm not accusing Turunen, she is just a victim of circumstances like the whole band and all fans were then. End of an Era...

NW made it, they are still going strong and they (IMO) sound much more better now than two or four/five years ago. Prove to that are successful record selling and full venues and arenas at their shows around the world. And of course the great home-like but still magical atmosphere in Hartwall Arena at the final show of DPP-tour. If you've been at Blackmore's Night shows, that was pretty much the same, although bigger...

    Now comes the constructive part.
NW looked, despite all difficulties, strongly forward before and is looking forward in the future, or so it seems to be now. Let's hope that Tarja Turunen does the same and proves with her own material to all the sceptics that she is a world class artist. Regrettable the venues, which she has been performed lately with her band of skillful professionals, have been smaller and smaller and, if I'm properly informed, not so many of them have been sold out. So better material and live performances are really needed.

What do most of people in this topic do, then? Do they support Tarja by visiting her concerts and buying her records? No. They're longing for times that won't come back, crawling in bitterness and hatred, mocking band's new singer badly, sometimes even the man, who used to be their greatest idol, Tuomas. Yes, I know that some NW or Anette fans do the same for Tarja. So why lower yourselves on the same level? Okay, guys, some of you feel themselves totally betrayed and abandoned by NW, but show some maturity and stop that childish whining.

I think the best thing for us all is to enjoy the music, NW's with no matter Tarja or Anette, or Tarja's as solo. Still no one has to listen music one doesn't like. But no one can tell others, what they should like, neither. Not to mention all inappropriate comments been written also in this topic.
Don't worry, I won't be back, 'cause for me this kind of bickering is so sad to see.
All the best, everyone. And peace.

  118. "You know, if greed and conceit go over art, what else could be done?"

Interesting ,that person pretends she/he is not accusing Turunen, but in this line it is a clear hint, that Turunen was so greedy and it went over art, so it was needed to fire her via open letter (without even telling her how greedy she was in the face :)) It is always nice to see people who so rely on that letter or on everything Tuomas said.

"sold out full venues and arenas at their shows around the world."

Not long ago we found out that it isn't always true:)

"still magical atmosphere in Hartwall Arena at the final show of DPP-tour. "

Lots of people who've been there noted afterwords that it was magic that was missing during the gig :)

"What do most of people in this topic do, then? Do they support Tarja by visiting her concerts and buying her records? No."

Well, they are doing a good job to give other opinions bar drooling fan opinions like "they are Gods". And yes, half of them is supporting Turunen by visiting her concerts and buying her records. I do not know if they proud of it or not.

"Yes, I know that some NW or Anette fans do the same for Tarja. So why lower yourselves on the same level?"

Not some, but lots and lots of them do this.
And about lowering-so we really should stop criticizing New NW or Olzon, while New NW fans would still trash Turunen (or other singers), because they will surely not stop, and just watch them do this? Hypocrisy is withering!

  119. Sorry, I promised not to come back, but this Emmanuel provoked me to do so. Well done, big E!

I am he. No, no need to pretend on that or anything else...

Emmanuel, did you miss my point on purpose? I too can twist other peoples words but I think it's not a proper way to act. Obviously there, were you dwell, it is.
One word, Cabuli. If you think, his way to handle things is right, I understand, why do you try to put words in my mouth and blur things. And what comes to telling things to people f2f, if one does not want to listen, then let's put it in the paper. Of course that is not very nice way, but at least the message went through in quite a harsh way.

By the way. Isn't it funny, that same time NW performed as a prime act in sold out (if you can get tickets only via black market just before show, isn't it then sold out) show at quite a big venue, Tarja Turunen got her own gig in Elf-something-festival. That reminds me of one 80's hilarious classic act with dwarfs dancing around much too small Stonehenge-props :P. Tarja must have been as happy as she can ever be when, ...eh... singing Alice Cooper's Poison there... I think that was not what she had in mind when she planned her future career after Nightwish. That is sad, too. But let's hope she is still happy with her mast... Marcelo.

Over and out, now forever. Bye, bye beautifuls...

2011... thats to far away :(

  121. Intrigix, I knew you wouldn't have the guts to really leave and you would return - typical and predictable ;)

"did you miss my point on purpose? I too can twist other peoples words but I think it's not a proper way to act. Obviously there, were you dwell, it is.
    One word, Cabuli."

I see your point clearly. Now you are hinting on this dude Marcelo, trying to show him as word-twisting-serpent and call him "master" of Turunen , nice try. But word-twisiting is something Mr. Maestro is actually good at. But you didn't mention him, surprisingly, cause you surely blindly follow only his version, typical, very typical.
And about that Elf Fantasy Fair, oh, what a horror it is for Turunen who performed at several metal fests this year to play a gig at this fest too, surprisingly it is not she who wears fairy wings and tiara on stage, hm, strange. Besides there were also Lacrimas Profundere at this Fair, for example, and they so like elves, you know! :) I'm still trembling from shock.
    Farewell.

  122. WIHAA really sucks in that live version!

Fobus wrote on 23.09.2009 at 21:57

  123. Ah, yet another person who pretends to be "neutral" and is just here to bash Tarja and suck up to NW. Troll as troll can.

While Nightwish have been playing all sorts of shitty mainstream festivals, Tarja (the commercial-minded one who does not care about her fans) has been playing at REAL metal or underground music festivals, as well as smaller, more intimate venues and even interacted at one in Bremen so intimately with her fans that she joined them in the audience space to play and sing. That's how "distant" she is.

Yes, she doesn't write hyper-catchy disco metal like NW. She may be less popular for that, but who cares?

Almagest wrote on 24.09.2009 at 23:42

  124. By the way, I'll trade Elf Fantasy Fair in for bloated, overcommercialised festivals, including Wacken Open Air, any day.

Almagest wrote on 24.09.2009 at 23:48

  125. That said, the stab at Tarja for being less popular and commercially less successful is as poor as it gets. The vilification has cost her a lot of popularity, her name is less established than NW's and her solo career less well known, and she was purposefully prevented from developping her solo career while still in the band, i. e. under the protection of her status in the bad, so DUH, no wonder if she has trouble selling bigger venues out. Lastly, quality or artistic merit of music obviously has nothing to do with popularity at all - there is a negative correlation, if any, as more popular music has a strong tendency to be more streamlined.

Almagest wrote on 26.09.2009 at 03:09

  126. @Almagest

Great points...Not to forget the fact that EVERYONE compares her music with NW...
But Tarja never said that she wants to make music similar to NW.

    Plus the denigration thing.
Plus that she has just released one album.People should think how popular NW were after AFF.Not at all.

BUT still, she sells out 5000 capacity shows, she sold out the last show here in Greece,in 2007,a 1000 capacity venue.

Legeon wrote on 26.09.2009 at 14:38

  127. I get it!

Britney Spears has far bigger sales when NW, sells bigger venues, is far more known among people, apperas more on TV, in magazines and etc, has bigger fandom. It means that music she sings is far better than NW's music and she is a better singer than Olzon!
    Yay!
