TARJA TURUNEN Performs New Song, "Montanas De Silencio", Video Available

Tarja performed the new song "Montanas de Silencio" live at the concert in Ludwigsburg, in the middle of the audience. Watch a video of the performance below.

The concert in Ludwigsburg was part of "Final Storm Tour", Tarja's last tour promoting her debut album, My Winter Storm. "Montanas de Silencio" has been only performed once, in the end of August, at the classical festival Soi Suvessa in Mantyharju, Finland.

Tarja Turunen has set "What Lies Beneath" as the working title of her new solo CD, tentatively due in early 2010. She says, "With [2007's] 'My Winter Storm', I chose the name of the album in the early stages and that helped me to create the concept for the album. With the new album, I decided to do it the same way, so I searched for an inspiring title and all the songs are one way or another related to it."

  1. Great show and great song.
I was there and it was fantastic.
For a fan it's a dream coming true if she plays a new song you didn't heard before.

  3. well... she looks soo beautiful!! and her voice... wow... I just have a trouble: I can't understand every word she sings =( I can understand the final words but no the first ones... I'll be trying... I've been waiting for listening this song since august and now I can't understand!!!

  4. It is in Spanish? Too bad I can't understand Spanish very good :( But it sounds beautiful.

  5. OMG! that was so beautiful...
I'm so glad that she's not a Fartwish member anymore, because now she's expressing herself like never before, and that's amazing...
What Lies Beneath will be a great album, I just can feel it.

  6. This is incredibly beautiful, and I don't even understand spanish - well, I had a few lessons, but I still don't understand this. Might be better if I had the lyrics, I don't know. However, I love the song ;-)

Listen to The poet and the pendulum, that, it's beautiful!
'Fartwish' haha so funny... Poor thing ;=)

  9. Alice, I heard the full song, not the "ah,ah" only:). That's why I liked it.
Sorry I've already listened to the song , where Tuomas whined about himself then killed himself with pathos.

And I think Popwish sounds better then Fartwish. Nice to see how you use Olzon's smiles, btw. Maybe rumours are right and it is Olzon herself roaming the net :)

  15. @Who, you are wrong, about PMS Nettie being not as good as Tarja :) PMS Nettie is better in advertising shopping and her PMS! In cheap PR that is! And about vocals and performance, well, yeah she will never be as good as many metal and rock female vocalists!

Sorry dude, but I have to disagree... Nettie will never be as good as ANY metal and rock singer, since she clearly can't sing at all...
But when it comes to entertain... well, she's very good I must say, I mean: her outfits, her statements, the way she screams in front of the audience while the band is playing... she's a pretty good humorist... XD
Plus: she looks like chucky, so she could be a movie star some day, who knows?

And for those who are insulting NW let me say:

    Tarja: Awsome
    Anette: Crap

Ragnarök wrote on 04.10.2009 at 16:41

  18. Ragnarök, may I add that NW with Anette became crappy, cause since as you say she is crap=>and she is voice and face of the band now=>it leads to the conclusion that band with crappy voice and crappy face also becomes crappy?

  19. Horrible. Tarja, stop stalkin´us internet users. When I check out some metal from finland I don`t wanna see some mediocre bandylegged Arnold Swarschtznegger lookalike. I wanna hear and see real metal. Like Anette Olzon. Her solo album´s gonna kick ass. She´s got some professional songwriters helping her out and it´s gonna be awesome. US number one hit is highly possible:

You're so right. 'Cauze Nightwish' Eramaan viimeinen, Last of the wilds and Master Passion Greed are still GREAT!
The Islanders is awesome too, only at the end there's a very false noise through it (some of you maybe see it as a female voice).

  22. I've been trying to understand the lyrics and all I could come up with is this:

    Vuela tan alto
    como puedas
    ----
    ----
    siempre comienza
    cuando estás solo
    amor, temor
    siente y encuentrate
    la soledad/oscuridad

    tu ira
    y nadie más

If I get to understand it fully I'll post a translation, meanwhile it's just not worth it, since I'm missing a lot of the lyrics...

So, as you see, it is PMS Nettie who has such a big connection with Arnold Schwarzenegger :)

    nadie esta libras (?)
    Siempre comienza
    cuando estas solo
    amor, temor
    siente y encuentrate

    Unlike other nations.
Or Anette.Acting sweet and in the same time insulting countries, ignoring fans.Acting like she cares about NW,but she never talks about it in her blog.NEVER.

Legeon, I feel so much hate and stress in your words. If you want to "talk", please....you have my open ear! Let it flow.

One last word to you, I think if she really hated metal ( or at least has the same opinion towards it as Tarja ) she wouldn't surely date a tattoo'ed guy playing in a metal band himself. 59. OceanWithin: You are clearly clueless about metal, or music for that matter. Please go and educate yourself.

Black Sabbath -> Judas Priest -> Iron Maiden -> Manowar -> Helloween -> Stratovarius -> Nightwish.

Their music is, for the most part, typical European power metal (or melodic speed metal, which describes the music very well), with symphonic/operatic influences à la Therion.

As far as I know, Timo Kotipelto is classically trained just as Tarja is. Only difference is he can't sing QUITE as high, being a man. ;-)

Nightwish's music (excepting parts of AFF and also parts of Once and DPP) has actually always been very close to traditional heavy metal, much closer than the music of the extreme metal bands you may be thinking of when you hear "metal".

Of course, I agree that Therion make very similar music - strongly influenced by traditional heavy metal and power metal and 70s progressive rock with even more consistent classical/symphonic/opera influences and a less "commercial", more avant-garde approach to songwriting -, i. e., musically better. I think that Therion's music is quite close to German traditional heavy/power metal, actually, and their cover versions fit in with the picture.

  63. Now she'll start doing soundtracks for latino-american soaps. The recipe of success: humming around the first melody that comes to your head, which is, by accident, made of a succession of major/minor seconds plus a sixth, which is practically the climax and the most fantastic damn moment of the song. The strike of genius.

Now this is what I call compositional talent. Next thing, she's gonna sing the C major scale and put it on chords. And of course 'fanbois' will love it and say it's better than Mozart itself.

Oh, and I found a title for the soap opera: "Diosa Tarja, la voz del universo". She would like it, and her husband could do the script.
