NIGHTWISH Singer Shoots Down Album Title Rumors
31.10.2009
NIGHTWISH singer Anette Olzon has shot down reports that the band's next studio CD has a working title of "Wind Embraced". She writes on her blog, "Some people have asked me about some Wikipedia comment saying that our next NIGHTWISH album already has a title. I haven't heard anything about any title, and since the songs aren't even done yet, I am pretty sure it's only someone making the name up to make a story."
She adds, "Things in the Internet are very often not true, and our album won't be out until 2011, so it's far too early to tell about the album title now."
NIGHTWISH will release an eight-CD box set, "Lokikirja", on November 18. The package, which is now available for pre-order at the band's official webstore, features the following recordings:
* Angels Fall First (Remastered)
* Oceanborn
* Wishmaster
* Over The Hills And Far Away
* Century Child
* Bless The Child
* Once
* Dark Passion Play
NIGHTWISH played a special homecoming show on September 19 at the sold-out, 11,000-capacity Hartwall Arena in Helsinki to mark the end of the band's colossal "Dark Passion Play" world tour. Support at the gig came from APOCALYPTICA.
NIGHTWISH is not expected to play any more shows until the release of the band's next studio album.
NIGHTWISH's previous concert at the Hartwall Arena in October 2005 was recorded and released as the highly successful "End Of An Era" DVD.
"Made In Hong Kong (And In Various Other Places)", the most recent CD/DVD from NIGHTWISH, entered the German Media Control chart at position No. 15. It also opened at No. 2 in Finland and dropped down to No. 5 in its second week of release.
Released on March 13 via Nuclear Blast Records, "Made In Hong Kong (And In Various Other Places)" contains a DVD documentary (with a running time of approximately 45 minutes) of NIGHTWISH's world tour in support of the band's latest album, "Dark Passion Play", as well as a CD featuring live recordings from the trek. The documentary footage was directed by Ville Lipiäinen.

If her "shooting down" rumors is as honest as her words about not planning a solo album(which she said AFTER she had bought her guitar and set up a studio and some days BEFORE announcing it),then we have a title for the next album :P

So, it's fake news about the album's tittle... wow, it seems surprising to me, cause I do like the name Wind Embraced...
Lucifer wrote on 31.10.2009 at 02:57
So the title rumors are wrong AND the album won't be out 'til 2011???
Princess, you just ruined my whole life...
Jeremy wrote on 31.10.2009 at 04:39
You'd think that the lead singer of Nightwish would know whether their next album has been named yet or not... Instead of being "pretty sure" just because the songs haven't been written yet and the album isn't coming out for a while... Any fan could have drawn that conclusion without her help. Is the band not communicating again or something?...
Gotta admit, the title that's mentioned does sound interesting, though.
Tainted~ wrote on 31.10.2009 at 06:07
Obviously, it's a fake. Anyone can post/edit articles, on wikipedia.
Just some little schmuck, and his failed attempt of joke.
"our album won't be out until 2011"
Damn it ! It'll be a long, long fu**ing wait. :-(

You have her naughty boots as a consolation. :-p
And if the new NW album really will be named Wind Embraced that will show what everybody already knows - how well Princess is integrated and part of "that band". ;-)
TheSeer wrote on 31.10.2009 at 11:41
Maybe thats the tittle, but Tuomas hasn't tell anything to the Pms Princess, cuz is going to fire her and the next albums is going to be without her... (Mhhh dreaming is free)
Ragnarök wrote on 31.10.2009 at 13:06
Can't beleive that next album will wait 'till 2011! On the other hand, the lady in question is not responsible for writing or composing, so better not accept anything as 100% true until The Maestro speaks.
vikingsoul wrote on 31.10.2009 at 16:44
Am I the only one who isn't sad about next NW album coming out 2011? As long as Anette is singing, I do not care to hear any new stuff from Nightwish.
Jaussi wrote on 31.10.2009 at 17:24
Jaussi, you're damn right. Completely. Actually, as soon as it comes in 2011, they have enough time to get rid of her and find a singer with nice powerful voice.
vikingsoul wrote on 31.10.2009 at 22:14
such a hype for nothing !
TT wrote on 31.10.2009 at 22:38
Yeah, Jaussi, Olzon doesn't blow me away, either, but I'm intrigued by this next album. Tuomas says it's based on Walt Whitman poems. Whitman's part of the reading list for my Advanced Lit. class next year, so integrating NW into the course would make things interesting.
Plus, Tuomas mentioned some sort of an interlude in the album, which leads me to hope that the next album will be a concept one. And I mean a REAL concept album, not a kinda sorta concept album like DPP was.
Tainted said "Is the band not communicating again or something?... "
Tainted, Emppu put it simply: "Nightwish isn't a talking band." It never has been, and it isn't now.
Jeremy wrote on 31.10.2009 at 22:53
@Jeremy
So if Nightwish isn't a talking band,then why they said that "two persons that don't speak for a whole years don't belong in the same band"?
Because for me it seems that Anette doesn't communicate AT ALL with the rest of the band,and especially Tuomas.She only mentioned him in the Black Silk performance,but nothing more...They don't speak or meet...So what kind of band is this?
I know.The type of band that finds ridiculous excuses like "two persons that don't speak for a whole years don't belong in the same band"(which is something that they do anyway,like Emppu said)just to sack and undesired singer.
Legeon wrote on 01.11.2009 at 00:03
@Jeremy
I like your comment and I'm also very interested about the next album.To me DPP album is great but I think they gonna have better situation for the next album because Tuomas is an awesome composer and they know the singer now.I think they have a big pressure because they have done so many great albums before.
Jimmie wrote on 01.11.2009 at 04:11
"since the songs aren't even done yet"
Is she lying or doesn't know herself, cause in one interview Tuomas said he already composed at least ONE song for new album....
Jaussi, you are not the one- I know lots of people that don't bash their heads against the walls cause the album will come out only in two years.:)
"Emppu put it simply: "Nightwish isn't a talking band." It never has been, and it isn't now. "
In other words, this band HAS bad communication, but only at some point they faked that to be such a problem, so they could chose it for excuse for themselves and now try to pose it like a normal thing. But really what kind of band it is if the communication is always like that - meaning bad? It is lame.
And the picture of Olzon here in the news is awful, she looks like a hooker here.
Wilska wrote on 01.11.2009 at 17:10

I don't believe that they don't speak or talk to each other at all, and if someone (Emppu, Anette, whoever) said that at a given instance, was probably said as an excuse for something. If it is reality, I can only interpret it in the sense that it's actually Tuomas who makes the final decisions, so his final word is the one that really matters. Unless they mean that they do not talk literally, but communicate via SMS's instead :p
Although Wiki is not always correct, I wouldn't take Anette's words for granted, because she seems to be completely in her own world, absorbed in taking self-photos with her mobile in front of the mirror like a teenager would actually do and giving advice on how to fix dirty hair (lol). Besides, in her blog post about the album title she didn't mention anywhere that she actually contacted Tuomas and that he told her the rumors are not true. She just said she's 'hasn't heard anything about any title'. That IMO is way too vague as a statement and isn't strong enough to be able to shoot down any rumors.
Sin wrote on 01.11.2009 at 18:04
Ah, another hint to communication problems I see...: ))) No matter what members say now, cause we all know what a big fuss they made before over "bad communication", but now try to say that is ok they have not so good communication at all. :))
And there were news that Tuomas already composed some material for next album...so who is making up things or don't know- Olzon or those newsmakers? I wonder.
Her pic here is really awful- they could use something better.
Xena wrote on 01.11.2009 at 19:17
Instead of denying the already existing rumors, Anette should actually fetch a real title for us. I don't know why Tuomas is so secretive anyway, it's not like we'll know what the songs will be like.
Anyway, if indeed the lyrics are gonna be based on Walt Whitman's work, it should be a really interesting album. I actually want Nightwish to step out of the "fantasy" shell they've been in since the beginning.
So yeah, two years is gonna be a long wait.

Anette looks awfull in any photo that hasn't been photoshoped... cuz she is an awfull woman. And in this concert photo she looks like a cheap whore and her rhino legs make me sick.
And about the communications problems, I think there is no problem at all. Anette is a hired singer, Tuomas doesn't talk to her or ask her opinion cuz the Pms Princess is only an employee.
Ragnarök wrote on 02.11.2009 at 03:49

Precious Michael...
I am back from the cinema and 2 hours of Michael Jackson...I was so sad and cried when I left the movie. Its such a big loss that he is gone.
And I can tell you that those shows would have been amazing! He sang as good as he always has been, dancing as good as he always has done and he was so full of life and energy. His dancers, his band, his choir were all amazing and they all loved what they did.
He wanted to do the show to make people aware that we are destroying the world and he said: we only have 4 years to make them see that we need to change and take care of the nature and the earth. His talk about the earth, his caring about it and the compassion he showed to all the people that worked with him showed his big big heart.
Whenever he corrected someone in their playing or anything, he always said: Said with love. And all the time I love you and God bless you. He cared for them all and they gave him the loving back.
I truly and deeply hope this movie will be released as a dvd for all those who dont get the chance to go and see the movie. Cause it was fantastic to see him in action;=) And if you can and love Michael, go and see the movie!

Yeah, we should ask: what's the problem, Maestro??? She's a good person afterall, cause she still gives you money and fame with her solo career, so don't be enfuriated with her lies.
"about not communicating: did you ever thought about that she is Swedish and the guys are Finnish so that it is a little harder for them to communicate directly..?"
Hey, it's not really hard to communicate in this globalized world! See, I for instance communicate with people from the other side of the world almost everyday, afterall one can use emails, instant messengers, etc.
"can't wait for the new album.. i love dpp especially 'cause it's the first i've heard ;-)"
I agree with Jaussi and others, I don't really care for their next album. In fact I hope they do delay on the release, cause it will save us from hearing about them for a while. Sounds like we'll always hear about Anette though..I wish metal websites wouldn't post news about her anymore. =/
"there are some "old songs" that doesn't match her voice but some other really do.. wouldn't want to see her leave nightwish...!!!"
I do think there are other unknown voices out there who fit the new songs much better, and who can also sing the old ones beautifully aswell.
"and by the way: i think that she has to lie about upcoming things.. and as it was said before... don't believe everything on the net...!!"
Yes, sometimes they need to lie to keep things under control in business, but it's not a cool thing if your fans catch your lies very often, I guess.
It's funny that Maestro said he wouldn't change his way of composing, doesn't matter if they have a singer with a different kind of voice.

Because it's nothing personal with Nettie, he doesn't "cough" love the Princess of Pop, lol
Besides he would look very stupid (more than he does already) if he did the same thing again, since people would begin to realize that maybe he and or his Management "cough" Ewo are the problem
Phoenix wrote on 02.11.2009 at 16:47
Moonchild: Maestro is used to issuing commands and his employees attempting to execute his commands, how exactly is their problem. A good, professional composer adapts his compositions to the possibilitites and limitations of the instruments and voices used - Maestro doesn't, hell, it could limit his boundless creativity, bwahaha.

Nothing really, but it is called lying and if you are caught lying, don't complain that people would remind you about that in the face and won't trust you a lot, besides, her lying was very clumsy and pathetic and not necessary at all since she announced her solo album VERY FAST after denying that she was going to make one:))) Very stupid of her.
"about not communicating: did you ever thought about that she is Swedish and the guys are Finnish so that it is a little harder for them to communicate directly..? "
Wow, there once already was "cultural differences" issues in NW, how funny to see it again...Besides, they all speak English, so it is not so hard to communicate in it :) If they want to- if not, then they'll find reasons why they don't communicate a lot.
"there are some "old songs" that doesn't match her voice but some other really do.. wouldn't want to see her leave nightwish...!!! "
Not so really, besides there are far better singers who could cope with songs better than she.
I would really want to see her leave. She is too weak and mediocre for that kind of music. Well, if music will go more pop-rock, than it would be her thing :)
"besides why is it everyone is calling her princess "
That's a nickname, given to her by her drooling fans :) They call her a lot like this.
"every time there are messeges about anette on MFF people slam her for being some A list diva..... "
It is not our fault that she turned out to be one :)
"cos if that was the case surely tuomas and the lads wud of booted her out after the recent hartwell gig"
Well, it would be not original for creative Maestro to repeat such trick, besides, he needs to keep the image of ideal band now and maintain it a lot :)
Selma wrote on 03.11.2009 at 00:27
We'll probably never know if the title is real, because if it is, Maestro will probably rack his head to come up with a different one now. :-p
Almagest wrote on 03.11.2009 at 00:35
Anyway, it's just a working title, so it's not a big deal. It's subject to change anyway, so it wouldn't hurt to reveal or, if it is really true, confirm it. And as pointed out, it's not as if it told you anything about the music on the album. I just don't see the bloody problem. It's just a freaking title. *rollseyes* You get the impression that the mere title - or the working title, even - of a new Nightwish album are a state secret. Nightwish are not really the centre of the world, even if Tuomas believes himself to be just that.

It was really windy both at home and here in Stockholm today and its for sure autumn now. The studio is lying in the middle of a forest and by a lake and the atmosphere is super. I've noticed too that she wrote they are doing "one song per day"... They are quite prolific. How on Earth could you do a good album if you compose one song per day. It seems that we were quite right, here on MFF. And it seems Mr. Holopainen should take lessons from his "perfect" and "down to earth" Anette. For him, it takes two years to make an album.
@mermaid: I think she said she was asked about the album title by her FANS on her BLOG and probably she felt like answering :-).

Remember Chinese Democracy? It's OK when you take your time, of course you should, but when you get huge and earn loads of dough, you tend to develop a certain amount of self-complacency and get lazy ... There are albums that took a lot of time to complete but were worth it (for example "Mabool"), and you could see why they took so long, but when more than ten years pass something is usually wrong.

Then why didn't you write a response to Selma's answer to your last post? Don't get me wrong, I don't have a problem with you having your own opinion, but if you just keep on writing several comments that say you like Anette and Nightwish, that isn't really constructive. Of course there are other comments which aren't, too, but since you wrote that "you can handle all comments" and still don't react to those that are directed to you, I wondered what you meant by handling? Simply ignoring? That's not the same.
