Audio samples of all the songs that are set to appear on "Darkness Of Eternity", the eighth album from Finnish symphonic metallers AMBERIAN DAWN, can be streamed in the YouTube clip below. The disc will be released on November 10 via Napalm Records.
"Darkness Of Eternity" track listing:

01. I'm The One
02. Sky Is Falling
03. Dragonflies
04. Maybe
05. Golden Coins
06. Luna My Darling
07. Abyss
08. Ghostwoman
09. Breathe Again
10. Symphony Nr. 1, Part 2 - Darkness Of Eternity
11. Anyone (bonus track)

The official lyric video for the album's first single, "Maybe", can be seen below.

Commented AMBERIAN DAWN keyboardist and mastermind Tuomas Seppälä: "This song represents the poppier side of the album. Most songs on this album are heavier and I'm glad that there was still room for a couple of softer songs too. So far I haven't put a side project band together for these different kinds of songs. Instead of that, I've wanted to make all those experiments with AMBERIAN DAWN. I was happy to produce this song as a tribute to ABBA's Benny Andersson. Most of the keyboards on this song was recorded at his studio in Stockholm and with his legendary keyboard 'Great White Elephant,' a Yamaha GX-1 which is often heard on ABBA songs in late '70's and early '80s. Lead vocal melody is actually based on a keyboard riff I composed at the age of 15 or something. That melody came back to me from somewhere and it became eventually the cornerstone of the whole song! After I got the main melody working in its final form, rest of the song kind of wrote itself. Those 16-beats with hi-hats which run through the whole song were there from the very first demo of mine and our drummer Joonas and bassist Jukka insisted keeping that style in the final version too."

Seppälä says: "'Darkness Of Eternity' is one of the most emotional AMBERIAN DAWN albums so far. It's got some really bombastic songs in mood of dark and symphonic melodic metal and in contrast to that also some really poppy songs too.For me, it's really hard to stick in one genre only and I constantly want to compose different kinds of songs!"

Tuomas adds: "The song 'Symphony Nr.1, Part 1 - The Witchcraft' told the story on the last record, 'Innuendo', before the time of 'Magic Forest'. The little girl is a healer and village elders buried her alive in a coffin. The track 'Symphony Nr.1, Part 2 - Darkness Of Eternity' on our upcoming record 'Darkness Of Eternity' tells the story of the girl lying in the coffin trying to get out. Darkness is asking her to dance the waltz of eternity. The story will continue in Part 3 and we will tell you how she became the Magic Forest's evil witch!"

Regarding the "Darkness Of Eternity" recording process, Tuomas says: "We did a lot of production at legendary Finnvox Studios in Helsinki, Finland: drum recordings, mixing by Mikko Karmila and mastering by Mika Jussila. We also used a live string section on orchestral parts and that added nice color on the sound. It's easy for me to say that this album is without any doubt the best sounding AMBERIAN DAWN album ever! It's a kind of monument for me and it introduces the many sides of me as composer. I still feel very lucky that I've got Capri on this band because she's probably the only singer capable singing all of those different styles with superior sound and feeling."

AMBERIAN DAWN released a compilation album of songs that originally appeared on their first four albums — "Circus Black" (2012), "End Of Eden" (2010), "The Clouds Of Northland Thunder" (2009) and "River Of Tuoni" (2008) — to showcase Virkkunen after the departure of Heidi Parviainen. "Re-Evolution" was made available on June 14, 2013 in Finland, distributed by Suomen Musiikki.

AMBERIAN DAWN parted ways with vocalist Heidi Parviainen in November 2012. Her final appearance with the band was at the Metal Female Voices Fest at the end of October 2012 in Belgium.

AMBERIAN DAWN is:

Tuomas Seppälä – Keyboards, Guitar
Päivi "Capri" Virkkunen - Vocals
Emil Pohjalainen - Guitar
Jukka Hoffren - Bass
Joonas Pykälä-aho - Drums

You think you’re ready for The Heat, but you’re not. Catchy hooks and sweet vocal harmonies are nothing new for Finnish rockers MANGOO.
You think you’re ready for The Heat, but you’re not. Catchy hooks and sweet vocal harmonies are nothing new for Finnish rockers MANGOO. On the Turku-based outfit’s third full-length, they come backed by a wall of thick, fuzz-fueled guitars and hard-hitting drums with an added sprinkling of analog synth sounds. Combined they result in a sound truly the band’s own – someplace between grunge, classic heavy rock, and a progressive psychedelic spaciousness that refuses any and all boundaries of style between rock and metal and beyond.

MANGOO — pronounced “man go” — have been busting out the fuzz since 2005 when they released their untitled debut EP. Countless beers, shows, and drummers later in 2009 the first full-length, Neolithic, was released on 7:45 Records. With a firm lineup of guitarist/vocalist Pickles, guitarist Mattarn, bassist Igor, drummer Teemu, and keyboardist/noisemaker Nicke, they engage new expanses as they follow-up their 2012 Small Stone debut, Neverland, with the eleven songs of The Heat.

Mega-choruses like “Get Away” and “Grey Belly” provide landmarks while MANGOO bringspsychedelic heft to “Beyond The Sky” and the title-track, which, at seven minutes, seems to draw together everything the album that shares its name has to offer – except perhaps in the closing cover of Eddie Murphy’s 1985 single “Party All The Time.” Not that they needed to remind listeners to stay on their toes because you never know what’s coming when MANGOO emerges from the studio, but suffice it to say the track remains an earworm for the ages.

All told, MANGOO’s The Heat is fifty-three minutes of masterful heavy rock and roll of inimitable personality and unmistakable songcraft. It is a welcome return after half a decade from a band who have obviously not been wasting their time in terms of growth and forward progression, and a surefire highlight for any underground heads lucky enough to take it on.

Heat will see release via Small Stone on December 8th, 2017. Preorders are currently available at THIS LOCATION where you can also sample opening track, “Relief.”

Heat Track Listing:

01. Relief
02. Get Away
03. Beyond the Sky
04. Monolith
05. One Day
06. Deification
07. Tiembla
08. Stumbling Man
09. The Heat
10. Grey Belly
11. Party All the Time

You can’t talk about the true greats of folk-inspired melodic death metal without reverent mention of Ensiferum, and with Two Paths they once more affirm their place in the pantheons of the genre. Further building upon the thrilling metallic hybrid honed across six full-lengths, Two Paths is simultaneously the Finnish quintet’s most epic and far-reaching collection and their most organic, which definitely sets it apart from the pack. Additionally, the album literally takes the concept of Two Paths to heart, with two different versions of standout tracks “Don’t You Say” and “God Is Dead”. “Even though Ensiferum has always had clean vocals and choirs, harsh vocals have been the main style, and those songs worked so well with both styles that we decided to include both versions,” explains bassist/vocalist Sami Hinkka. With Mikko P. Mustonen again handling orchestral arrangements and Lassi Logren returning to play nyckelharpa and violin on a few songs, Hinkka is also more than happy that they brought “more bombastic orchestral and down to earth folk aspects” to the record, further fleshing out their vision. This also applies to the contribution of Gyula Havancsak, who provided the artwork for both Two Paths and its predecessor, One Man Army. “It was really nice to work with him again because he always wants to hear our ideas and then he adds his own magic and improvements to them, and the result is always astonishing.”

Everyone who has followed Tarja's career knows Christmas is a time for her to do some Christmas concerts. This Christmas you can expect the unexpected.
Everyone who has followed Tarja's career knows Christmas is a time for her to do some Christmas concerts. This Christmas you can expect the unexpected.

This year, Tarja is bringing the festive season early with the release of her brand new Christmas album “from Spirits and Ghosts (Score for a dark Christmas)” on November 17.

The album includes 11 Christmas classics and brings them to a never before seen level, uniquely blending Tarja“s classically trained voice with darker gothic influences. Utilizing the sound of a grand orchestra, the most successful Finnish solo artist puts a sinister spin on traditional songs like “O Tannenbaum”, “We Wish You A Merry Christmas” and “Feliz Navidad”, reminding the listener of a dark movie score. Besides covering classic carols, “from Spirits and Ghosts” also features a 12th track, the brand new original “Together”. This song is aligned with the dark sound of the album and embodies the theme of ghosts and mysticism throughout, in a brilliant, Tarja-styled manner.

Says Tarja: “Producing a dark Christmas album in the middle of the summer is a very interesting process, especially if you are doing it by the turquoise Caribbean Sea. Significantly different from the snowy Christmas that I am used to in my home country Finland. Another proof that the darkness comes from deep within. On this album, I explored the other side of Christmas. The Christmas of the lonely people and the missing ones. The Christmas for those that do not find joy in the blinking lights and the jingle bells.

“from Spirits and Ghosts (Score for a dark Christmas)” is going to be released on November 17th, 2017 on earMUSIC as 1CD digipak, 1LP Gatefold (180g, black) and Digital.
The “Official Store for a dark Christmas” offers a wide variety of exclusive, limited fan items and bundles.

The album is produced by Tarja, the American Emmy Award winning film score composer Jim Dooley and British producer Tim Palmer, known for his work with Pearl Jam, U2, David Bowie, Lang Lang and The Cure among others, who also mixed the album at 62“ Studio in Texas. The album was mastered at Sterling Sound in NY City.

This Christmas, gather your loved ones, dim the lights, put on some candles and play Tarja“s “from Spirits and Ghosts (Score for a dark Christmas) loud!

Finnish melancholic progressive metallers AMORPHIS have signed a new record deal with their longtime label home, Nuclear Blast.
Finnish melancholic progressive metallers AMORPHIS have signed a new record deal with their longtime label home, Nuclear Blast.

AMORPHIS guitarist Esa Holopainen commented: "I'm really happy to announce that AMORPHIS got re-signed to Nuclear Blast! It's nice to be working with such professional and familiar people.

"AMORPHIS has done a lot of touring for the past two years around the globe and now it's time to head back to the studio. This means that the new album will be released next year! It has also been a really nice experience for all of us to play with [returning bassist] Olli-Pekka [Laine] again and for that reason, we're glad to have him participating in the making of the new record."

Nuclear Blast CEO Markus Staiger added: "I'm really proud that we can continue working with AMORPHIS, one of the early Nuclear Blast bands, which went through the roof with 'Tales From The Thousand Lakes' back in 1994. Additionally, they became really good friends of ours, which makes this working relationship even cooler. I'm already looking forward to their next album, because it's simply impossible for AMORPHIS to deliver a bad record."

Longtime AMORPHIS bassist Niclas Etelävuori exited the band in April over management issues.

AMORPHIS recently completed the successful eighteen-concert "Under The Red Cloud" summer tour where they played arena shows with Danish rockers VOLBEAT, among others.

To make the last "Under The Red Cloud" show even more special, the band has come up with a great idea: fans can "jump on stage" with AMORPHIS at the Circus in Helsinki on September 23 as part of a 360-degree experience. The gig will be streamed live, free of charge, but fans can still donate directly to the band on the streaming page. You can also win a limited-edition AMORPHIS VR headset and enjoy the show to the max.

The music of Finland's Hallatar is born from a place of great loss and sadness. Juha Raivio, of Trees of Eternity and Swallow the Sun, constructed the new death doom project following the loss of his partner, Aleah. "After the death of my beloved and my life partner Aleah Starbridge on April 18th a year ago; I have been gathering writings, lyrics, and the poems of Aleah to keep them safe and close to my heart." Raivio said in a press release for the band's upcoming debut record. "About one month after the world came down on the blackest day of my life; I knew I needed to pick up the guitar and try to create something or I would be truly destroyed."

Raivio indeed created something beautiful to commemorate to his love. Joining Juha, Amorphis vocalist, Tomi Joutsen, and former HIM drummer, Gas Lipstick, brought No Stars Upon the Bridge to life. For "My Mistake" in particular, Draconian vocalist, Heike Langhans joins the band. The nearly seven-minute song soon evolves into an existential introspection. Langhans and Joutsen take turns on the microphone. The former's gothic tone dovetails wonderfully with the latter's thunderous roar. However, much of the emotion attached to Hallatar's music is in Raivio's strings. Single, mournful notes and chords ring out throughout a vast majority of "My Mistake". They break, but momentarily, into towering riffs to emphasize the growl of Tomi's voice.

THE DARK ELEMENT, the new musical project featuring former NIGHTWISH vocalist Anette Olzon and Finnish guitarist and songwriter Jani Liimatainen, will release its self-titled debut album on November 10 via Frontiers Music Srl.

Since word of this project got out, fans have been frothing at the mouth with anticipation for its arrival. And no wonder considering the talent involved! Anette is widely known for being the immaculate voice on the hit albums from NIGHTWISH, "Dark Passion Play" and "Imaginareum". Jani has recently been busy in CAIN'S OFFERING alongside STRATOVARIUS singer Timo Kotipelto, but left a deep mark on the minds of all power metal fans thanks to his time in SONATA ARCTICA.

Said Liimatainen: "I have always been a big fan of Anette's voice and when the opportunity to work with her arose, writing and producing an album, it was something I just couldn't say no! It has been a blast working on the songs and I can't wait for everyone to hear the final result. This will be epic! The songs are extremely melodic and to the point. My goal has been to write catchy songs with hooks that will haunt your dreams, and I think it's pretty much 'mission accomplished.' Stay tuned for something special!"

Added Olzon: "I am so looking forward to this album and I believe our collaboration worked like a perfect match and I am really happy that Jani and Frontiers asked me to do this with them!"
