CHILDREN OF BODOM is returning to the U.S. this fall for a mind-blowing celebration of twenty years since the release of the band's debut album, "Something Wild".
Fan-filmed video footage of CHILDREN OF BODOM's entire September 16 performance at at Yotaspace in Moscow, Russia can be seen below.

CHILDREN OF BODOM is returning to the U.S. this fall for a mind-blowing celebration of twenty years since the release of the band's debut album, "Something Wild".

The twenty-four-date tour will kick off on October 31 in Dallas, Texas with appearances at this year's Ozzfest Meets Knotfest, seven Canadian dates before concluding in Montreal on December 1. Joining the band on the momentous occasion are Dutch masters of horror CARACH ANGREN, Finnish thrashers LOST SOCIETY and New Jersey progressive, technical death metallers UNCURED.

CHILDREN OF BODOM bassist Henkka Seppälä (a.k.a. Henkka T. Blacksmith) told From Hero To Zero about how the music industry has changed from when he first joined the band in the mid-1990s to now: "Well, when we started… I joined the band in '94, and I was in the middle school still. Of course, the situation was different. It was just a hobby. We were playing in a garage and drinking beer and… it was just a hobby. In a way, it's difficult to… I hadn't experienced professional musicianship in the '90s, because… It really became professional for us [in the] early 2000s, so maybe ten, fifteen years ago. But ever since, yeah, it's changed a lot. The whole structure of income is totally different… not totally different, but quite different. I think it's interesting. Of course sometimes it feels a little bit scary that actual physical sales are going down, down, down, down… but then the Internet gives you so many opportunities, and you just have to be really creative to be able to do it. Creative, meaning marketing-wise and stuff. So I think it's very interesting times. And it's a fact that the vinyl sales are higher than ever. I think it's amazing that it's higher than in the '70s or '80s when [vinyl sales] were really big."

Finish Symphonic Metal masters AMBERIAN DAWN are set to release their upcoming full length studio album “Darkness Of Eternity” on November 10th 2017 worldwide via Napalm Records.
Finish Symphonic Metal masters AMBERIAN DAWN are set to release their upcoming full length studio album “Darkness Of Eternity” on November 10th 2017 worldwide via Napalm Records.

Today the very first track off the album sees the light of day in form of a lyric video!

AMBERIAN DAWN mastermind Tuomas gives an insight of the writing and record process of the track “Maybe”:
This song represents the poppier side of the album. Most songs on this album are heavier and I'm glad that there was still room for a couple of softer songs too. So far I haven't put a side project band together for these different kinds of songs, instead of that I've wanted to make all those experiments with AD. I was happy to produce this song as a tribute to ABBA's Benny Andersson. Most of the keyboards on this song was recorded at his studio in Stockholm and with his legendary keyboard "Great White Elephant", a Yamaha GX-1 which is often heard on ABBA songs in late 70's & early 80's. Lead vocal melody is actually based on a keyboard riff I composed at the age of 15 or something. That melody came back to me from somewhere and it became eventually the corner stone of the whole song! After I got the main melody working in it's final form, rest of the song kind of wrote itself !! Those 16-beats with hi-hats which run through the whole song were there from the very first demo of mine and our drummer Joonas & bassist Jukka insisted keeping that style in the final version too.”

You can’t talk about the true greats of folk-inspired melodic death metal without reverent mention of Ensiferum, and with Two Paths they once more affirm their place in the pantheons of the genre. Further building upon the thrilling metallic hybrid honed across six full-lengths, Two Paths is simultaneously the Finnish quintet’s most epic and far-reaching collection and their most organic, which definitely sets it apart from the pack. Additionally, the album literally takes the concept of Two Paths to heart, with two different versions of standout tracks “Don’t You Say” and “God Is Dead”. “Even though Ensiferum has always had clean vocals and choirs, harsh vocals have been the main style, and those songs worked so well with both styles that we decided to include both versions,” explains bassist/vocalist Sami Hinkka. With Mikko P. Mustonen again handling orchestral arrangements and Lassi Logren returning to play nyckelharpa and violin on a few songs, Hinkka is also more than happy that they brought “more bombastic orchestral and down to earth folk aspects” to the record, further fleshing out their vision. This also applies to the contribution of Gyula Havancsak, who provided the artwork for both Two Paths and its predecessor, One Man Army. “It was really nice to work with him again because he always wants to hear our ideas and then he adds his own magic and improvements to them, and the result is always astonishing.”

Two Paths track-listing
1. Ajattomasta Unesta
2. For Those About to Fight for Metal
3. Way of the Warrior
4. Two Paths

Finnish melancholic progressive metallers AMORPHIS have signed a new record deal with their longtime label home, Nuclear Blast.
Finnish melancholic progressive metallers AMORPHIS have signed a new record deal with their longtime label home, Nuclear Blast.

AMORPHIS guitarist Esa Holopainen commented: "I'm really happy to announce that AMORPHIS got re-signed to Nuclear Blast! It's nice to be working with such professional and familiar people.

"AMORPHIS has done a lot of touring for the past two years around the globe and now it's time to head back to the studio. This means that the new album will be released next year! It has also been a really nice experience for all of us to play with [returning bassist] Olli-Pekka [Laine] again and for that reason, we're glad to have him participating in the making of the new record."

Nuclear Blast CEO Markus Staiger added: "I'm really proud that we can continue working with AMORPHIS, one of the early Nuclear Blast bands, which went through the roof with 'Tales From The Thousand Lakes' back in 1994. Additionally, they became really good friends of ours, which makes this working relationship even cooler. I'm already looking forward to their next album, because it's simply impossible for AMORPHIS to deliver a bad record."

Longtime AMORPHIS bassist Niclas Etelävuori exited the band in April over management issues.

AMORPHIS recently completed the successful eighteen-concert "Under The Red Cloud" summer tour where they played arena shows with Danish rockers VOLBEAT, among others.

To make the last "Under The Red Cloud" show even more special, the band has come up with a great idea: fans can "jump on stage" with AMORPHIS at the Circus in Helsinki on September 23 as part of a 360-degree experience. The gig will be streamed live, free of charge, but fans can still donate directly to the band on the streaming page. You can also win a limited-edition AMORPHIS VR headset and enjoy the show to the max.

After few years of silence Metal From Finland is back with a completely new website. Content is still very much work-in-progress but we wanted to open the website since most elements are already there.
My god we are stoked! Metal From Finland is finally open again! We were away for few years due to some personal things but now we are back ten times wiser. Metal From Finland 2017 is very much different from old MFF. Not only the way it looks but also what it contains. Whereas we tried to be the ultimate source for Finnish metal in the past now we focus on matters that we find more important. That is to present bands but not so much in detail. We try to provide videos and audio from every band so you know what you are dealing with. There are also lot of changes on how the website is updated and now we are able to update things very fast.

Please keep in mind that this is a work-in-progress and at the moment we only have a small fraction of bands added to the website but we will be adding new ones on daily basis. Also for other changes do check the FAQs for more information. We sincerily hope you enjoy your stay here cause afterall, this was all made for you.

This is so much fun to do but at the same time super difficult. At first you might think yeah sure picking up 100 is easy but when you actually start picking them up it gets more and more difficult.
This service is provided by http://top100.topsters.net and you can make your list there with kinda cool manner. Basically you split your albums on 3 categories. The absolute TOP-10, Second tier classics and other favourites. And for the sake of being reasonable this should not be narrowed only to Finnish metal. And I also suggest that you signup to that website otherwise if you take too long your effort might go wasted. By doing quick signup you can save your favourites and edit them later etc.

After you are finished you can share your TOP-100 to your Facebook page or save it as an image. For our purpose it would be saving the image. Then you can use for instance imgur.com to upload your picture and there you can get the appropriate bbcode to use in forums.

There is a forum thread in Metal From Finland where we start gathering these TOP-100 of our followers and it will extremely interesting to see what are your favourites. I will post mine as the first post on the thread. Let's make this a fun thing!

The music of Finland's Hallatar is born from a place of great loss and sadness. Juha Raivio, of Trees of Eternity and Swallow the Sun, constructed the new death doom project following the loss of his partner, Aleah. "After the death of my beloved and my life partner Aleah Starbridge on April 18th a year ago; I have been gathering writings, lyrics, and the poems of Aleah to keep them safe and close to my heart." Raivio said in a press release for the band's upcoming debut record. "About one month after the world came down on the blackest day of my life; I knew I needed to pick up the guitar and try to create something or I would be truly destroyed."

Raivio indeed created something beautiful to commemorate to his love. Joining Juha, Amorphis vocalist, Tomi Joutsen, and former HIM drummer, Gas Lipstick, brought No Stars Upon the Bridge to life. For "My Mistake" in particular, Draconian vocalist, Heike Langhans joins the band. The nearly seven-minute song soon evolves into an existential introspection. Langhans and Joutsen take turns on the microphone. The former's gothic tone dovetails wonderfully with the latter's thunderous roar. However, much of the emotion attached to Hallatar's music is in Raivio's strings. Single, mournful notes and chords ring out throughout a vast majority of "My Mistake". They break, but momentarily, into towering riffs to emphasize the growl of Tomi's voice.
